Kim Young Dae was a South Korean music critic and author. He graduated from Yonsei University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and later obtained a Ph.D. in Music from the University of Washington.

He began his music criticism career in the mid-1990s, writing about music for online platforms and magazines under the online alias "toojazzy". After graduating from college, he began his career as a professional music critic in 2006 when he co-authored the book "50 Great Albums of the 90s". In 2007, he moved to the United States where he lived until 2020, working for magazine Vulture and the official MTV account. He served as a member of the Selection Committee for Korean Music Awards and he hosted the Billboard Music Awards and the American Music Awards for several years.

On December 24, 2025, he suddenly passed away at the age of 48. His family reported the news the following day via his social medial accounts but did not provide any information regarding the cause of death or funeral arrangements.
