Shigehara Hideo was a Japanese cameraman, editor, recording engineer, and businessman born in Akakura Onsen in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture. He was the inventor of the SMS system (Super Mohara Sound System), also known as the "Mohara-style talkie". He has served as President of the Mobara Research Institute and Auditor of Radio Films.

He moved to Tokyo at the age of 17 and joined the Shochiku Kamata Photo Studio. In 1923, he made his debut as an engineer by co-shooting with Sasaki Taro in "Nuruki Namida". In 1927, he married the actress Iida Choko Iida.
