Before debuting, he was a trainee at Brave Entertainment and was set to debut as part of BIGSTAR but was dropped at the last minute when the agency decided they wanted a 5-member group. He left the agency as a result.
MBK Entertainment (MBK엔터테인먼트, formerly known as Core Contents Media) debuted their idol group, COED SCHOOL, in September 2010. The agency later decided to create two separate groups, one for the boys and another for the girls. The newly formed boy group SPEED released a pre-debut single album titled "Hommage to Lovey-Dovey" in January 2012 as a tribute to T-ARA's "Lovey-Dovey". However, two members decided to quit in September 2012, so he was added one month later to replace them.
He made his debut in January 2013 as SPEED's vocalist, rapper and lead dancer with their digital single "Speed of Light". He became the new leader in January 2015 after Woo Tae Woon left the group.
In November 2015, MBK announced the group's disbandment. He signed with Just Entertainment (저스트엔터테인먼트) in November 2020.
He made his acting debut in September 2021 with the lead role in the web drama BL, "The Tasty Florida".
