He belonged to the Dosa troupe and toured various places. In 1936, he joined the Sumiko Kurishima Theater Company after traveling around and studied under Kurishima Sagoromo.
In 1938, he turned to Manzai and formed Oyama Kirin Beer with his friends who were in the Kurishima Theater Company. In 1941, he became an exclusive actor of the Toho Theater Club in combination. In 1944, he joined the army and fought in the war in Yongsan, Korea.
