He served as an assistant director at Shintoho, which was established in 1947. From 1948, he served as chief assistant director of Ichikawa Kon, Shimizu Hiroshi, Ozu Yasujiro, and others.
In 1953, he was promoted to director and made his debut as a director in "Zanpa Misaki no Ketto". In 1956, he directed "Riki Dozan: Otoko no Tamashii", and made his debut as a scriptwriter in the same work. He has no record of making movies after 1970.
