Rae is a screenwriter and director. Her writing credits include "Birdshot", which was the Philippine entry to the 90th AcademyAwards; "Neomanila"; and "Eerie". Her first directorial feature, "Si Chedeng at Si Apple" (co-directed with Fatrick Tabada) has traveled in festivals such as Frameline, Far East Film Festival and Seattle International Film Festival. Her first solo directorial feature "Babae at Baril" premiered at the QCinema International Film Festival where it bagged the Best Director, Best Actress, and Gender Sensitivity awards. The film also won big at the local Gawad Urian Awards winning Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Production Design, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Film. It was a finalist at the Osaka Asian Film Festival and the opening film for the New York Asian Film Festival.
