Treat Williams was an American actor, writer, and aviator. He graduated from the Kent School in Connecticut and Franklin & Marshall College, and as a teenager, he acted in high school and local theater productions.

He made his debut in musical theater in 1972 with a role in "Over Here!". His breakthrough came the following year when he earned the role of Danny Zuko in the Broadway musical "Grease", which he played for 3 years. In 1975, he made his feature film debut with a supporting role in "Deadly Hero" and gained international acclaim for his role in the 1979 movie "Hair". During the 1980s, his career was nearly derailed due to drug addiction. After several years out of the industry, he returned and, for the next 3 decades, he worked on stage plays, TV, and movies, compiling over 120 credited appearances.

On June 12, 2023, he was involved in a motorcycle crash in Dorset, Vermont, when a car in the southbound lane turned into the path of his motorcycle in the northbound lane. He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in New York, where he was pronounced dead at the age of 71 due to severe trauma and blood loss.
