Nanjo Reiko is a former actress born in Tokyo, Japan. She developed an interest in track and field during middle school and joined the track team at Bunkyo High School, specializing in long jump and high jump. She set a high jump record of 1.55 meters.

In 1979, while studying English literature at Seisen Women's University (清泉女子大学), Nanjo applied for a cover model competition for Shiseido's monthly magazine Hanatsubaki (花椿). She was selected as one of twelve cover models and appeared on the January 1980 issue. Soon after, she joined an entertainment production company and began acting training at the Bungakuza Theatre Company.

In the fall of 1980, she won the lead role in Toho's 50th-anniversary film, The Phantom Lake (幻の湖), from a pool of 1,627 applicants. Afterward, she briefly left university to pursue acting but struggled to find further opportunities and eventually returned to her studies. She also researched the English poet Gerard Manley Hopkins and considered a career in translation but ultimately chose acting as her preferred profession.

Nanjo Reiko has since retired from the entertainment industry, and her current whereabouts are unknown.
