He made his debut in October 1995 as part of PANIC, a duo formed with his best friend Kim Jin Pyo, with their first album also titled "Panic". They have not officially disbanded but have not released any new material since 2005.
In 1997, he joined EXHIBITION's Kim Dong Ryul and created a project duo called CARNIVAL (카니발). They released their eponymous album. The duo disbanded soon after the promotional period ended, but fans kept asking for a reunion. Finally, in 2008, the pair had a chance to do a final concert as both were part of the same agency.
In early 1999, he joined yet another project group, GIGS (긱스), and released their self-titled album with him as the lead vocalist. The 6-member group was labeled as a "genius band", but each member decided to pursue other activities.
He made his debut as a solo artist in June 1999 with the studio album, "Dead End". He then enlisted for his mandatory military service on December 4, 2000, and was discharged on April 1, 2003. After serving, he resumed his career as a singer and also began hosting radio and TV shows and appearing in several variety programs.
In 2011, he made a special collaboration with Yoo Jae Suk and the pair debuted as duo SAGGING SNAIL (처진 달팽이) with the single "As You Say". The duo reunited in 2020 for an episode of "Hangout with Yoo".
He is represented by Music Farm (뮤직팜).
