Before debuting, he was already working as a producer and composer. In 1996, he produced the debut album of rookie singer Jung Ji U and was also co-producer for DIVA. He then made his debut in 1999 as the leader of the hip-hop group, TEAM, with the compilation album "1999 Korea". The group presumably disbanded less than a year later.
In June 2001, he formed the duo BROWN EYES with Naul as the main vocalist. They debuted with their self-titled album and, despite never appearing on TV shows to promote, the duo became one of the most important R&B groups in South Korean history. After one more album the following year, the pair decided to disband. He went on to debut as a solo artist and has collaborated with many artists both as a singer and as a producer. He is represented by his own label, Cento Entertainment (센토엔터테인먼트).
