Kang Seung Yeon is a South Korean singer and actress. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Applied Music from Baekseok Arts University. She was a trainee and was expected to debut as a member of a girl group but, in 2018, she participated in "Korea Sings" and won the top prize in her region singing trot music. She became interested in the genre and, the following year, she entered "Miss Trot Season 1" and finished in the Top-16. After the show, she signed an exclusive contract with Artsro Entertainment and made her official debut with the song "Ppi Ryeong, Ppi Ryeong (삐용삐용)" which she wrote and composed herself.
