Graduated from Communication University of Zhejiang, Qi Zi Tan became a singer and songwriter due to the influence of world music and foreign cultures. During her years at school, she participated in singing competitions and formed a band, in which she served as the lead singer and songwriter. With this band, she released her first EP album "Tou Xi" (偷喜).
In 2011, Qi Zi Tan participated in the talent show "Ji Qing Chang Xiang" of Liaoning Satellite TV and in 2015, she placed at the top eight of CCTV-3 "Sing My Song Season 2". On November 14, 2018, she won the Global Chinese Golden Melody Award for the Most Exploratory Musician, and the album "Ta Zou Lu De Zi Shi" (她走路的姿勢) was shortlisted for the Most Exploratory Work Award.
