Kang In
- Name: Kang In
- Native name: 강인
- Given name: Kim Young Woon
- Also Known as: Kangin, Kim Yeong Un, 김영운, Kim Yeongun, Kim Youngwoon, Jordan Kim
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Male
- Born: January 17, 1985
- Age: 40
He was recruited in 2002 after he passed an audition at SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) in Seoul. He was originally placed in a project group called FOUR SEASONS, but the group was cancelled when trainees Kim Jae Joong and Jung Yun Ho (now known as U-Know Yunho) debuted with TVXQ in 2003.
At the same time, SM's CEO, Lee Soo Man, wanted to create a versatile group with members who had experience in different fields (acting, dancing, presenting, etc.). He based his idea on the Japanese girl group MORNING MOSUME (モーニング娘), who debuted in 1997 and established a successful rotation of their lineup since then. He called his new group, SUPER JUNIOR 05.
He made his debut in November 2005 as the group's sub-vocalist with their first single, “Twins (Knock Out)“, part of their debut album "Twins", which was released one month later. The idea of a rotational group was dropped when Cho Kyu Hyun was added to the lineup in 2006. Nonetheless, SUPER JUNIOR has become one of the most successful K-Pop representatives and their ability to excel in different areas of the entertainment industry forced a change in the way other companies prepared their trainees.
As part of SM's strategy to not limit the group's activities while certain members focused on their individual careers, several sub-groups have been created since their debut. He debuted as part of SUPER JUNIOR-T (슈퍼주니어-T), focusing on trot music, in February 2007 with their single album “Rokkugo!!!”. Then, in May 2008, he became part of SUPER JUNIOR-H (슈퍼주니어-Happy) and debuted with their single album “Cooking? Cooking!”.
In 2007, he became part of a time-slot dispute when SM Entertainment insisted on having him stay on SBS' "Explorers of the Human Body" instead of MBC's "Sunday Sunday Night Dong-An Club", in which he was a regular host. MBC decided to temporarily ban SUPER JUNIOR from appearing in any future performances on MBC. He lost his hosting spot, but MBC's show was later cancelled due to low ratings. The ban lasted about 15 days and the network claimed it was never an official ban, it was only promoted by the programs' producers.
In September 2009, he was arrested for his involvement in a fight between two men that took place outside a bar in Gangnam. Despite solid evidence of him reacting in self-defense, he was dropped as a model for Andre Kim's fashion show and all his activities after a concert in Hong Kong were suspended. Then, one month later, his car collided with two parked taxis, and he left the scene of the hit-and-run incident. His blood alcohol was 0.082%, and after an investigation, he was indicted for drunk driving (DUI), hit-and-run and fined 8 million KRW by the Seoul Central District Court in January 2010.
To diffuse the tense situation with all his controversies, he decided to enlist for his mandatory service on July 5, 2010 and was discharged on April 16, 2012. After serving, he returned to SUPER JUNIOR after a 3-year hiatus with their sixth album, "Sexy, Free & Single", released in July 2012.
However, he committed a second DUI hit-and-run incident in May 2016. This time, he was immediately suspended by SM, and the Seoul Central District Court fined him 7 million KRW in September of that year. Then, in November 2017, police was summoned to a bar where he was drunk and allegedly assaulting a woman. After a quick investigation, the incident was deemed as a minor domestic dispute and with nobody wanting to press charges, he was sent off with a warning.
In May 2019, he returned to TV with a role in the web drama "What Happened to Mirae?", his first TV appearance after his second DUI. Two months later, he announced his departure from SUPER JUNIOR as he had been on hiatus from the group since 2015. He remains under SM representation but has no credited appearance since 2019.
