Choi Jin Young
- Name: Choi Jin Young
- Native name: 최진영
- Also Known as: Choe Jin Yeong, SKY
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Male
- Born: November 17, 1970
- Died: March 29, 2010
He made his debut as a TV commercial model in 1987 and began his acting career three years later with a role in the movie "Let's Look at the Sky Sometimes". He rose to stardom in 1993 with the popular TV show "Our Paradise", and his youthful image earned him several roles in dramas and movies during the 1990s. But after completing his mandatory military service, his acting career was not as prolific as it once was. So, in 1999, he decided to debut as a singer under the stage name SKY, and his first album "Final Fantasy" was a success thanks to the lead single "Forever", which topped nearly all the music charts. He returned to acting in 2007, but failed to catch much attention.
His sister committed suicide in October 2008, and that deeply affected him for the rest of his life. He enrolled in college to fulfill his promise to her and began working in the stage play of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". However, the lingering effects of severe depression after his sister's death made him cancel engagements for more than a year, and he even tried to commit suicide several times without succeeding. He signed with a new agency in early 2010, but became overwhelmed by stress as he kept failing auditions.
Finally, on March 29, 2010, he committed suicide at the age of 39 by hanging himself with an electrical cord in the attic of his apartment in Seoul. He was cremated and laid to rest next to his sister at the Kapsan Cemetery.
