His first musical was Luo Lan (樓蘭), and his most notable role was playing Ye Xiang Lun, the lead actor role, in the musical version of Jay Chou's Secret. While Cao Yang continues to star in musicals, he joined Jewel Music in 2017. He has lent his voice to popular dramas like The Little Nyonya and Why Women Love.
