Her parents are from Kaohsiung, and she grew up in Texas, USA. She graduated from MIT in 2001 with a double major in Biological Sciences and Spanish. She is a certified advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) after completing 3 years of university training. Initially, she only intended to visit her parents' hometown in Taiwan, but she ended up working at Taipei Veterans General Hospital (台北榮民總醫院). During her time in Taiwan, she was introduced to the modeling world through a member of the group L.A. Boyz, and later gave up her plans to become a doctor. She was then recommended to a program producer by the celebrity Xiao S, marking her official entry into the entertainment industry.
At the end of 2008, she officially obtained Taiwanese citizenship.
In 2015, she married mixed-race male model Wu Yu Wei (吳宇衛), and they held their wedding in Antarctica. In 2017, she gave birth to a son. She had a second son in 2021.
