Baek Ji Yeon

While still a university student, she passed the entry exam in the open recruitment for announcers at MBC and made her debut for the network in 1987. Then, in May 1988, she became the first-ever female news anchor on South Korean television. She is also the youngest and longest-serving news desk anchor in South Korean history.
She decided to leave MBC's Newsdesk in 1996, and after hosting other social and cultural affairs shows for the network, she left MBC in 1999.
After becoming a freelance announcer, she appeared on KBS, YTN, and other networks before retiring from the industry in 2017.
