He made his debut in December 2006 as XING's vocalist with their first single, "In My Hands". The group was managed by XING Entertainment, but it faced several lineup changes right from the start and was not very successful domestically. He decided to leave in 2008 when the company was preparing for the 4th lineup change.
He then re-debuted in August 2008 as U-KISS's main vocalist, lead dancer and face of the group with their first mini-album, "New Generation". They were originally managed by Global H Media (글로벌에이치미디어, formerly known as NH Media).
In 2009, they had their breakthrough when the single "Man Man Ha Ni" from their EP "ContiUKiss" became popular in Southeast Asia. In 2011, they debuted in Japan with the single "Tick Tack" and became the first K-pop group to perform in Colombia (in 2012) and the second to hold a concert in Mexico (in 2013).
In March 2017, he announced his departure from the group after his contract expired and decided not to renew it.
He is currently represented by FC ENM.
On October 26, 2025, he signed with UTA (United Talent Agency) for worldwide representation in all areas.
