Kim Myung Seon, known by the stage name of Hyun Mee, is a North Korean singer. She was born in Pyongyang (now North Korea's capital) during the Japanese colonial period and she lived there during her childhood until she and her family were forced to flee Korea in 1951 when the Korean War was in full force. She defected from North Korea and made her debut as a dancer first in 1957 and later debuted as a singer in 1962 with the song "Night Fog", written and arranged by composer Lee Bong-jo from the song "It's A Lonesome Old Town" by Nat King Cole.

In the 1960s, she expanded her recognition as Korea's representative female singer along with Patty Kim and Lee Mi-ja. She was finally reunited with her North Korean family in 1998 for the first time in 48 years. After releasing her 53rd album, she appeared frequently on television programs and she also worked as a singing instructor.

On April 4, 2023, the president of her fan club found her collapsed at her home in Seoul. She was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead at the age of 85. No official cause of death has been revealed as police investigations continue, but funeral arrangements were made at Chung-Ang University Hospital in Seoul by her family.
