Akritchalerm Kalayanamitr has been working as a sound designer for several films. Born in Bangkok , Akritchalerm holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and international affairs from Thammasat University, and originally intended to join the diplomatic corps. But a strong interest in film sidetracked him into studying filmmaking in the United States. After graduating from film school in 2000, he became active in the San Francisco Bay Area’s vibrant underground film scene.

On his return to Thailand he worked as a sound designer with Apichatpong Weerasethakul, starting with the 2004 feature, Tropical Malady. His recent feature credits include Pen-ek Ratanaruang’s Ploy (2007), Apichatpong’s Syndromes and a Century (2007), and Aditya Assarat’s Wonderful Town (2008).

Aside than that, Akritchalerm has been collaborating with Koichi Shimizu on a sound installation, Anat(t)a (2006-08), which has been shown twice in Bangkok and once at the 37th International Film Festival, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
