She grew up with her parents in the United States until she was 7 years old, and she lived alone in Korea with her maternal grandmother. Her parents are an American father and a Korean mother, both of whom were Americans in Korea. When she was in elementary school, she went back to the United States and finished middle school and Seoul American High School in South Korea.
She made her debut as a CF ad model for the US version of her Queenie Grand Chase, in January 2006.
She also appeared in the BTS song Permission to Dance, in which she played a minor role as a female employee.
