Ye Da Ying, also known as Ye Ying, is a Chinese screenwriter, director, and actor.

Grandson of the late Communist military general Ye Ting, Ye Da Ying began to take an interest in film in his early childhood, owing much to the influence of his actress mother. During the Cultural Revolution, Ye, at the age of 18, was assigned to work in a machinery factory in Shanghai. Three years later, however, he enrolled in an acting workshop sponsored by Xi'an Film Studio and started his film career.
In 1984, when he went to Beijing Film Academy to study film directing, he became acquainted with the popular novelist Wang Shuo, who later became one of Ye's favorite work companions. After returning to Xi'an Studio, Ye made his film debut, "Out of Breath" (1988).
In recent years, Ye was also involved in the making of television series. Occasionally, he also serves as guest performer in film and TV dramas.
