My Golden Blood is PEAK romance, and a must watch if you still have a beating heart
My Golden Blood doesn’t get nearly enough appreciation on this site for being a total standout among Thai bls when it comes to stuff where so many other bls fumble. Here’s why this show is in a league of its own:- Mark and Tong’s communication is goals
No petty drama from miscommunication here - they’re open, honest, and handle their issues like adults. It’s a breath of fresh air in a genre that often leans on misunderstandings to push the plot. Their dialogue strengthens their relationship and sets a gold (pun intended) standard for what healthy love should look like
- A bond that cannot be damaged by manipulation and mind games
They both refuse to break up even when pushed by a super powerful and murderous villain who could end them in an instant. Compare this to typical bl plot where lovers break up because of most bullsh*t and weaksauce reasons imaginable
- Next-level intimacy
These two are basically attached at the hip, from casual touches to full-on cuddles to makeouts, their physical closeness in an important and ever-present layer to their bond. It’s not forced or overdone, it’s genuine and natural - this is what a couple in love looks like
- Consent and sex positivity shine through
A bit surprising for a vampire show, but this bl handles intimacy with so much respect - consent is front and center, and it is beautifully sex-positive. No awkwardness or exploitation here - just a healthy, mutual dynamic that feels empowering. And Tong initiating kisses and closeness as much as Mark, breaking away from outdated norms
- Fun and flashy villains
Baddies in this show feel refreshing after so many overdone, boring and lame “villains” typical for bls. I’ll take a powerful overly-dramatic, stylish and murderous villain any time over yet another yawn-inducing ex, thank you very much
- Love triumphs over everything
Yes, it’s got that fairytale, disneyesque charm - love as the ultimate force, beating even death. Maybe I’m a hopeless romantic, but the way they weave this theme into the story is magical. It’s heartfelt, uplifting, and leaves you with feelings of warmth and hope
In a nutshell, My Golden Blood is an imperfectly perfect little masterpiece. It’s got depth, heart, and an edge that sets it apart from the pack. If you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favor and dive in, you won’t regret it! The majority of negative reviews on this site is by trolls who were dead set on review-bombing it even before the trailer dropped (those who’ve been here from the start know this)
