Agreed. He brought something different , but would have been ok if he didn’t seem so so selfish. They focused too much on him, should have shown the rest of the team more. It doesn’t seem that he would do well in a team, especially one this large where parts would be limited. I wonder how he will be once the stronger trainees are in a group with him.

In the book the reason they don’t show much outside of the fwb is because they aren’t a couple yet and Uea is still protecting himself from getting too involved. Once they become a couple Uea will really open up and be much more affectionate. Hopefully they show this in the drama. Both dramas have their own flaws. I read both books and they left out a lot of context in both dramas. But it’s a drama with limited time so I can only assume they did what they could.

I only started watching this program because I heard Santa was in it. They are definitely using Santa as clickbait. Santa's charisma is so good, even if he's not the best dancer/singer yet, I'm sure he'll get better. The shows editing is really awful, too many weird cuts, odd zooming in and too much focus on the Judges vs the contestants. I don't get why they didn't show all the contestants audition, even if they were terrible, they should have still shown them so that the audience could get a good idea of their talents. The talent level seems lower on this show than other survival shows, there is not one person that really stands out to me (maybe Ksoul though cause he's so sassy). Junwon seems to be the center pick even though they didn't show how he got selected to be center and they didn't say much about him in the second episode even though he's the center in the stage performance. I'm concerned about how successful the final group will be after the show since the survivor show competition is pretty intense right now, BP has very strong talent on the show and huge popularity already, PT has groups that already know how to work together to get a great performance. FB seems to be trailing behind, and just based on youtube views, it's not looking so good. Also anyone confused as to why they had a pre voting with a first ranking before they even let voters see all the contestants. Voting would be pure popularity, not based on talent. I'm not sure if I'll be tuning in every week for the show, but I'll come back to see the final results.

Totally agree about the Matthew edit. Who wouldn’t be upset that suddenly the team decides to change your part after all that practice. And I don’t get changing it when in other episodes there were groups who said no when a trainee asked to retry out for a different position since it was all voted for already. Also everyone saying Matthew isn’t a team player cause he didn’t immediately accept the change is weird, obviously he did moved position and did the performance with a smile. And in the performance I didn’t see how Matthew wouldn’t have done as well as the other guy. In my opinion they all could have switched to any position and it would have still been a stellar performance since they are all talented.

I read the novel too and that’s a great summary! And I agree the actors are doing a great job portraying the characters.

Finally took the plunge and signed up for MDL just so I can comment about this drama. I just have to say I haven’t been this enamored with a drama for a long time. The director is just amazing, the story is very cohesive and so well filmed. I love the mix of romance, family drama, politics and humor. In fact, I love this drama so much I did the crazy and actually read all 179 chapters of the book using badly translated google translate. Even with the translation issues the book is so well written. The author really wrote such a great book and as many have said the drama follows pretty closely along with the novel, which I just appreciate so much. Having said all that.

Thoughts on EP 41 - I’m so glad this episode gave a proper amount of screen time to the main couple to show us their glow of love for each other. It was really needed with all the angst and misunderstanding before. One scene part in particular I wanted to mention that wasn’t in the book but I thought it was a brilliant addition to the drama, is the part where CSS goes to the military base to see LBY and he brings her up to the tower and points out where he wants their house built, I loved how he so gently looks at her and tells her all the amazing things she can build there, how she’ll never be abandoned because it will be her own home. LBY really promised so many good things to CSS and but will break it all to finish his revenge quest. The director is just so talented, the build up of all the loving moments will only make the heartbreak that’s coming all the more emotional for both the storyline and the audience.
extra note - I don’t know about any one else, but I just adore those mandarin duck wings that CSS made for LBY. They blended in so well, i didn’t notice until they spoke about it. I thought they looked perfectly fine with his amour and make him look extra special compared to everyone else.

Thoughts on Ep 41 - shocked to see CSS family imprisoned since that wasn’t in the book, but I know where they are going with it so i’m really looking forward to next weeks episode. I just wanted to comment on YS. I’ve read many comments about him. He’s actually not a bad person. You can say the way he’s been treating CSS is the way a school boy treats the girl he has a crush on but doesn’t want to look desperate so says mean things to her instead. YS is already starting to redeem himself with helping to protect CSS family in this episode. In the future he will be even better and you can’t really blame him for taking his chance with CSS when it comes to him. Who wouldn’t take a chance on being with the person they love. I just really feel sorry for him, because he does truly love CSS and will be so good to her when LBY is away for those 5 yrs but of course he won’t end up with her.
I’m very happy to have found this drama and am already dreading when it ends lol.
