I completely agree with you. Probably an unpopular opinion but I totally felt the makers got carried away with…
Personally, i like the scene cause that's so game of throne-esque, lol. It gave his character an edge and made his ending more bittersweet, which i like better.

I would have loved if they gave more screentime to HDY, but in the end he's just a supporting role and i like the direction they took for his character. He's too smart to get seduced and far from a being pushover. The way he's able to figure out DE's scheme so early. He kinda fell for her but he never losed his agency. He did what's right for his daughter and company. In the end they became sort of allies and grew respect for each other. It's the best thing that could happen to them.

I've never enjoyed the ML-prisoner storyline, it added nothing to the main plot. Icb, they'd wrap up the series with that snoozefest of a sub plot. I get that they tried to be edgy with the revenge couple thing but a bittersweet ending with her finding solace on her own and start fulfiling her dream by studying architecture again would have been more poignant and left a bigger impact.
Just finished it last night. Love how the bullies got their punishment. But I wished they didn't go overboard…
and special mention for Oh Ji Yul for portraying Ha Ye Sol so well. She's the perfect little princess in the middle of custody battle between Ha Do Yeong and Jeon Jae Jun. I love how both daddies would go feral for her. Their 'Mockingbird' live action plot is the one I enjoyed the most and truly a gift for society, well, the glory-toks at the very least. lol
Just finished it last night. Love how the bullies got their punishment. But I wished they didn't go overboard with the romance subplot cause let's be real here, it was the weakest element in part 1 and got worse in season 2. It feels like a daily soap opera suddenly got pasted into the series and broke the flow of the story. And the way it kinda tell that a man is the reason for the FL to continue living and how they shoehorned the ML as her white knight didn't sit well with me. The ML was also a complete miscast. He didn't look the part and had no chemistry with the FL whatsoever, talked to her as if she was a 5 y.o. which irked me. But, I guess that formulaic plot worked for traditional kdrama viewers but definitely not for me. Is platonic love not enough for them to be revenge partners?
But despite all that I still give it 8,5 for the performance of Song Hye Kyo, Lim Ji Yeon, Yoom Hye Ran, Park Sung Hoon, Kim Hieora, Cha Joo Young, Kim Gun Woo, the younger counterpart cast and last but not least the epitome of class and handsomeness that is Mr. Jung Sung Il. Man did so much with so little thing they gave to him and came out as a fan favorite.
if theres like romance i hope its between the classmates cause i cant with the big age difference bs ;-;
Same here, the magician is only 30 but the female lead is still a minor! It's best to leave the plot as it is, any romance plot will overshadow the messages they try to carry.
