You're right, the MLs in both the dramas I recommended are both scheming. It's been a while since I watched The Glory so my memory is a bit fuzzy.

I recommend The Double (starring Wu Jin Yan and Wang xing Yue) and The Glory (starring Chen Du Ling and Xin Yun Lai). Both have very scheming FLs. Both have MLs that are officials. The Double's ML is also a schemer too.

Yes I agree. They changed her hair style from a simple high ponytail with a piece of cloth tying up her hair, to a completely new hair style. Her new hair style is more sophisticated, elegant and feminine as well as being decorated with gorgeous ornaments. Hairstyle is like 10x better than her original hair style.

Her new clothes are also prettier even though there wasn't a drastic change in colours as they were both light coloured. But her old cloth were plain and simple. New clothes have more details and decorations, and I assume higher quality.

Perhaps the changes don't appear to be "huge" because her makeup stayed the same. If they had also changed her makeup, different eyeliner and different eye shadow for example, they would have added more difference to her new look.

I laughed a bit at the synopsis they put on Netflix because contains a spoiler:
"Love blooms between a beloved prince and a fearless princess as they venture through the war-ridden martial arts world in a fight for justice."

Do any male look hot with a tight bun hairstyle? Think part of the bun hairstyle problem is lack of a fringe (hair at the front) and how tight the hair is tied up.

Even females don't look great with the bun hairstyles compared to their normal hairstyles. When females are cross-dressing pretending to be males and using a bun hairstyle, I find that they look less attractive too.

Out of all the female characters on the show so far, I reckon Feng Qi Wu has the third most on-screen time in the episodes so far (the first being the BFX and second being the Queen). So in this sense, I think it's better that Xuan Lu landed the role of Feng Qi Wu than the role of Chun Ran. More on-screen time very important for actors/actresses. More recognition and more pay as well.

Also I really like Feng Qi Wu, her character is strong and smart. Even if Chun Ran is a princess and the no .1 beauty of the East, Feng Qi Wu seems like a bigger role.

If the Eldest Prince can stay loyal to ML.... I hope he does but I have a feeling that he will get fed up with ML keeping so many secrets from him, feel so betrayed and that just adds to his tormented, fragile mentality that he will turn on the ML :( Will have to wait and see.

Ep 12 ended on a cliffhanger! I hope the ML didn't really fall into the Queen's trap like that. If ML was able to guess that the court official was the Queen's supporter and was going to backstab him, hope ML already has a counter argument and more proof prepared... Don't want the ML to lose a court case and be labelled an incompetent and bias person.

It could work if FL had a maid who knows kungfu and joined Tianshuang sect as a disciple also. Then she could still serve FL in secret and support her when they're out on adventures together. But it's quite uncommon to have maids with kungfu skills in Chinese dramas eh.

I had to re-watch the scene where FL grabbed ML's hand when he reached out in her direction to catch an insect. His reaction to that brief hand holding was cute but hilarious. It reminds me of how in animes the guy would get flustered and sweat due the close contact with his love interest. Then FL touching his neck made it worse. It was all too much for him, he had to bail out of there asap haha.

Exactly. She has plot armor! For those who aren't familiar with that term, plot armor is "the phenomenon in fiction whereby the main character is allowed to survive dangerous situations because they are needed for the plot to continue."

Yea he told her a bit. Hopefully it moves her more when she learns he's from a royal family and not just a rich family. As he has a lot more responsibilities than what he has mentioned because he's actually a prince. He has to look after entire population in his state and he obviously can't say that to her yet lol.

After learning more about the ML's backstory, I got to say he's a tortured hero. His mum died when he was young, and his dad never loved him or even cares about him. It's even said that his dad hated his mum because of her royal lineage and the ML has a result. His step-mum also hates him and wants him dead, has poisoned his food so many times that he can only trust food that's cooked by two people (three now when you count the FL!). His younger brother wants to ruin his reputation. Even though his older brother cares about the ML, he is violent and cruel.

His family is dysfunctional. Also everyone in his family except his older brother wants to backstab him. ML has to pretend that has a weak body for many years in order to not be constantly targeted and survive. As a result, he has secrets which he keeps close to his chest. I hope when the FL learns his true identity, she will fall in love with him even more seeing how much he has suffered and has to endure.

All very good points. Well that means there are plenty of room for character development and growth for both main characters! FL to become more refined, mature and wiser. ML to care more about other peoples' lives, not only help them if there are the benefits of doing so - though in the episodes I've seen he has always genuinely cared for the FL and treated her right. But from her point of view, I guess she wants him to care more about everyone in general.

I like how in that scene she unintentionally stopped him from leaving at first, then she had to think about what to say next and realised oh yes that painting. The painting was like a second thought to her impulsive reaction of stopping him from leaving straight away. How cute.

They were both disappointed that he had to leave and it showed. The actors portrayed it in their own way - FL was a bit awkward/funny whereas ML was smooth/subtle.

I got the impression they've known each other for a number of years. I believe in the TV series it said that HFX has been managing Fountain Abode for 8 years so that could be an indication to how long they've known each other. But I don't understand why despite knowing each other so many years, that in the first 3 episodes BFX kept showing animosity towards HFX.

Like I understand she was mad at HFX for not saving Yingzhou, but she kept calling him names and saying he is cruel - like using the eagles to kill the people that stayed on the mountain because they were looking for BFX despite his clear warning to them about traps, said to his face that "You are nothing more than a scheming , cunning, evil and selfish animal". I agree with what BFX said in ep 3 before she accused him of letting innocent people die in the fire , "You have a prejudice against me" (or "You have the wrong idea about me"). During that conversation I felt sorry for BFX. Which is likely what the show wanted me to feel because there was soft sad music playing in the background during that conversation.

I'm glad after this scene she reflected on the cruel things she said to him and wanted to apologise - lucky for her, he already forgiven her before she actually needed to say sorry! - and that she started seeing his better qualities. I wouldn't be able to root for them as a couple if FL kept being mean to the ML (or vice versa).
