One sided and annoying
Not sure why people want to watch the dating and slow development of a fairly mundane and boring romance. To these people,I say, go out and start dating instead of watching a very ORDINARY boring relationship not worth being shown in a frame for a total 14episodesAnd then there's the breakup where the ML is trying so hard, ALL one sided and the woman is so spoiled and annoying. Do Chinese people think it's cool for women to behave like this?
I read from other review that this writer is always doing this. So get this name, remember it and NEVER again watch anything written by this person.AVOID++(don't waste your time

Great story and acting but boring script, boring editing, boring directing, boring music
It's a fantastic story and the actors did very well. BUT it's just got TOO many filler episodes full of boring dragging scripts that's totally irrelevant and boring . Every 4th episodes or so,at the beginning of a new "phase"of the story with new characters,they would waste 1-3 super boring filler episodes before getting 1 good episodeIt would be fantastic if it's only 24episodes . The "filler"boring time seems to be written by an assistant script writter who's amateur and dead boring, not even funny nor exciting, totally unnecessary
The music is ok but annoyingly taken over the subtitles such that you can't hear nor read the conversation!! Are we selling songs or are we here to watch a drama? It's super irritating
Other than that, it's good but what a waste of a great story to be presented in such a boring way
I would recommend that you watch the exciting bit and just edit out or fast forward the boring parts. I can usually tolerate a few slow episodes but boy,these ones are boring as hell, it's almost painful,. Chinese drama writers and producers need to understand that it's a total TURN OFF

Fantastic plot excellent actors
Really good. Not sure why the poor comments elsewhere. Fantastic plot, excellent lead actors, excellent director although I do feel the last 4episodes were a bit rushed . But then most of us can really only endure these number of episodes no matter how good,the brain had enough.Most foreign viewers binge all 36 episodes at one go so if the complicated plot needs you to remember things , having to watch it one episode per day madenit hard work. That maybe why day to day viewers found it hard work but binge viewers like me love the brain stimulation . It's an amazing story
Also (partial spoiler), some people may get turned off by the fact that he has multiple wives but you need to remember that a powerful man like him get "given" wives for political reasons in those days. So the womenfolk just live there but not romantically involved and eventually he threw them out anyway so don't worry about that
So I highly recommend this drama, really enjoyed it

Too grey,Arty,Corpses' make up . Dullness overload
Really good acting and story line but the director is obsessed with his own "artiness" so much so it destroyed vewer's enjoyment.Every single frame is like a painting with beautiful scenery and art form sometimes with beautiful music and camera work but hey, 40 minutrs every single episode can kill my endurance .
Everything becomes "flat"with flat speech,flat voice,flat grey light to the point my brain dies and I feel depressed. Everyone speaks in whispery flat voice.
To fit the grey dull "arty" pictures,the actors have ugly overly white thick pasty make up which destroyed their natural beauty again totally depressing the viewers. They look like corpses
So my rewatch rating is zero and I will recommend watching it if you want to cultivate endurance of boredom and depression watching corpses talking in exactly the same tone for 30hours
The diector need to reflect and stop being so Artym this is a drama not a painting so totally one dimensional

No energy, poor script
Poor script,poor editing,poor directingNo matter how good the story or the acting is, there's no energy. It's just bland, with a story that doesn't seem to flow anywhere
Sorry I had to drop it half way after wasting a very unbearable time trying to put up with it

It's ok BUT....
The story is good and I learnt a lot about silk and brocade. The actors are good but the script is a bit boring and any attempt at humour just fell flat completely. The entire drama is kinda slow and monotonous, everyone speaking in the same tone and lacking in energyI had to abandon it half way,it was just a bit dull. With three directors you'd think they can do better. The FL has a lot of lines but she's again lacking in energy. I have seen her elsewhere and this is actually one of her better ones.
The ML is really good but the director didn't get the best out of him
It's a so-so drama.nothing to speak of,I just didn't to waste more time

slow start but exciting after that
The "escape room"concept at the beginning was interesting but maybe weird for some viewers -if it had gone on longer I would have abandoned because it's a bit irrelevant but the real story kicks in after about the third episodes. After that, it becomes really interesting and the plot develops really well. Final few episodes was quite excitingI don't usually like modern cdrama because of the weak plot and sometimes just too long but this one has a good story,good acting, good directing and the ost is good. Only problem with the some platforms is they turned up the music so loudly it actually deafened the conversation and the lyrics subtitles totally blocked out the dialogue subtitles (super annoying-please can someone tell them)

Excellent. Very enjoyable
I don't usually like modern cdrama, usually too long,too boring,too many unrealistic"obstacles",too much tear jerking. And "ROM com"are usually too much screaming or spoiled bratty behavior.But this drama has the right balance in EVERY way. I am extremely impressed not just with the acting,but also the directing,the funny script,the thoughtful storyline,and the perfect editing.
Some might say the story is not deep enough but for 20episodes, I only come to be entertained and I thoroughly enjoyed every episodes. If you dwell deeper, there's actually a lot of depth, considering various types of hotels,the competition,the finances,the overall development of the hotel industry, the BTS problems ,the human factors etc etc. I learned a lot just from watching this
The two leads are absolutely fantastic in their acting and their timing. Somehow I feel their previous Korean training have made a difference,I have seen this in other ex k-idol who have returned to China. They're just more expressive,more natural and more adapted to the modern scenarios.
I will certainly follow these two leads again and wish the best for them, and the scriptwriter and director too.

Excellent except for unnecessary death
Chinese drama really really should STOP the useless death in their drama for some spurious tear jerking "mandatory criteria"which totally doesn't contribute to the story. Nor does it enhance the enjoyment of the story. If anything it totally TURNED people OFFOther than episode 38 where the characters acted a bit stupidly and the death is totally unnecessary, it's actually a very good drama. I have downgraded from 10 to 8 because of this. In fact I may not be able to recommend it because of this episode. All Chinese producers need to understand this point and STOP it!!!!there are times when a death is important in the story but NOT here, and not just random for the fun of it
This is unlike the usual police mystery in that there's additional arson . The cases are fresh and interesting. I learned a lot about arson and chemistry. It's also packed full of lessons eg the domestic violence,the weird father son controlling relationship etc etc
Do watch it as you will enjoy it but edit out stupid event in episode 38

Really enjoyable,no dull moment
I highly recommend this drama. The story is interesting and we'll directed/edited without any fillers or dull momentThe two leads are excellent actors and well casted. The romance develops naturally without the need for the usual cliche like love triangle or anything silly but a very mature, supportive, trusting relationship.
At the same time the murder mystery is full of deep psychology and damaged personalities which made each and every characters "understandable"in their behavior. The writer deserves high praise in this aspect, very well researched with deep understanding of human behavior and psychology.
Most of all, the music is not too loud or the lyrics covering subtitles of dialogue (like many cdrama that I absolutely hate), nor was there any pasty white make-up that makes me want to sack all Chinese stylist, and finally, there's no unnecessary death that cdrama usually has just because they think it's somehow "arty"to have deaths when it's a real TURN OFF especially when it's unnecessary just to be cruel to the viewers

Thoroughly enjoyable and funny
I was looking for something light hearted and came across this. It is absolutely lovely and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's very funny and I laughed a lot. It also brought back memories of the carefree years of teens and universities . Both FL and ML did really well and the scriptwriter is very funny. The directorship is top notchedI wasn't a fan of Wen Jun Hui but since watching this,I have started checking him and his group Seventeen. I think he's absolutely talented
I hope to see more dramas from these two actors
I highly recommend this drama if you are looking for a light hearted ROM com but there's quite a lot of social values and education too

Subtle comedy, perfect scriptwriter
Watch it in the context of comedy,deceit,politics, female inequality and you will enjoy it. It's not meant to be an epic story or Big twisted plot. The beauty is in the excellent script,the directing and editing.. The main leads were excellent actorsI thoroughly enjoyed the subtle humor. It's funny without the usual screaming whiny females or stupid scenes. This series is all about strong female characters, witty strategy and a bit of power politics
I think it would appeal to global audience rather than the traditional diehard mellow drama fans who expect pitiful crying or overdramatic deep plots. Just relax and enjoy the subtle humor and you will love it

Bit messy,need fast forwarding, poor editing
The first 10episodes was good. After that, it became a bit disconnected. If they had cut it down to 24 or 30 episodes, they could get rid of the unnecessary and some stupid stuff that's there purely to bulk up but make no sense. The unnecessary stuff are 1) FL's best friend (super stupid with behavior that totally doesn't make sense 2) repeatedly showing the same theme of the ex classmate's obsession. While I appreciate that they want to showcase the difficult life and ethical dilemma of doctors and soldiers,the poor editing and REPEATEDLY harp on the SAME theme is annoying. They really should develop and edit properly so the police story flows instead of this bitty here bitty there that makes no senseThe ML's cousin is also supper annoying -most viewers would find this person repulsive
I survived it by fast forwarding and editing out the unnecessary characters in my head
I hope the producers and editing team will read these comments and LEARN! Otherwise it's a complete waste of investors money and the actors ' time. Whoever is responsible for editing the second half should be sacked

Pitched at the right level
I don't usually bother to review but I really wanted to support this series and the teamThe story is not too complicated yet it has plenty of imagination keeping every single episode entertaining with a fresh perspective everytime.
Despite the comedy and mangga feel to it,it has a deep message about good and bad , and not to discriminate between races (re-presented by Taoist and the monster clans) just based on old beliefs,social stigma and spreading of fake news
The actors especially the two leads are absolutely fantastic (especially switching from big dragon king to being a baby dragon for the ML and the FL going through her various trials
The directing, the script writing,the music is good all top level, especially the OST by Liu Yining and Hao Ming Hao
I strongly recommend this drama to everyone. You will enjoy it

Overly mysterious dulls it
The story is good and the acting is excellent but Chinese drama seems to try too hard on every aspect. In this case, it's a simple vampire/zombie style story, never going to be a great work of art, yet the editor tried too hard on making everything such a big mystery at every step that it's very difficult to keep up. Why don't they just make it an enjoyable entertaining product which is what it can only ever achieve being this style of story,but they made it so complex and repetitive that I gave up at episode 15 when it got too draggyIt would have been good to just make it 20-22epsodes. Don't try too hard, it's not art, just an exciting drama
