I guess that didn't happen cause romance *is not* the center of this story, but it's implied that they'll become lovers again in the red-string scene. I guess finishing with her alone, getting old and accomplished, ultimately cleaning the Shen family name, it's great to show that love is not necessarily the main goal of a women's life.

The pivotal shift is when LX says their path differs fundamentally, and JQ cannot understand until she explains how she doesn't believe in monarchy and rising through ranks within the imperial court. She only accepts him (note how I say accepts, not love) after he understands that and sets his mind to leave officialdom, cause for him, as a noble, that's a huge step - to let go of power. She's basically asking him to choose between her and wealth/power. At least that's my view of it. That's also the fact she's *not* LX, and had to keep this secret really deep inside, so I guess she only opens her heart completely to him, i.e., loves him back, after he finds out her identity and let her now that he'll never betray her and also ask for forgiveness for what he and his family did to the Shen family.

I'd second @ChineseDramaFan comment, and I'll explain why in the comment below marked as spoiler.

Perfection, from beginning to the end!!! My god how much I cried!! I plan to write a full review ASAP, I'm too much emotionally affected now wahhhh 😭

But I'm confused, wasn't Lici heart condition bc he was harmed by an arrow? But the child who was harmed is not the 4th prince??

Bai Shu finally in a lead role!!! <3

that's what I was expecting, she being shunned for the rest of her life for forcing someone who doesn't love her to marry her...

Seems a new person, cause her mother said she'd fall in love again. At least that's what I understood.

Infuriating. I hated this ending for her.

The ending is better than the beginning imo... The editing seemed rushed, a lot of info dumped out of the blue, sometimes I had to go back to previous eps cause I thought I missed something...

She got to do all the dirty tricks to steal her sister's groom and in the end she'll have a good life with him?? I understand that for the plot's sake FL cannot marry the 2ML,but WTF??

Finished today. So... Satisfactory ending except for the evil sister??

Just copy and past in a note-like app. That's what I did!

Not all of them even in the "good ending"...

I thought the same sis! But bear the straightness (I skipped some parts) and get to the mystery it is *REALLY*worth it!

Despite Xingtang's evil actions, I was touched by her death in this last episode... She was betrayed over and over again by her family and even by the man she loved... It's sad how she became so twisted to protect herself.

EP 36... 😭

I started Spring of the Blade and the drama is not bad, but its pretty pale in comparison...

I'm eagerly waiting for his redeem arch, meanwhile it's been great to see him pining for her and XL just giving him a polite-cold treatment.

Me too. He's a total red flag wtf
