Really? Why don't you like it?
Yes, its not an happy ending. So many people would be disappointed about that, and I was one of them. But that doesn't mean it's a bad ending either. I also was wandering what happened to the bad guy, but at the end, he was even worse than expected. But it is what it is. The guys who have done bad choices in life finish rarely with an happy ending. They both did.
You hope until the last minute that they will met again, but "Be Happy" showed us that he is really gone. Many things showed us it was gonna be a bad ending, because off all the clues around. First, the dealing with a shrine, then all the Chinese superstitions and the four Horsemans. Death is always around, so we had everything showing us that they were doomed.
But we had hope, like the characters, and its what made the story interesting. We felt the emotions: sadness, hope, love, forgiveness, understanding, lost,...
I had to watch it a second time to truly understand it, and the movie final helped putting everything together.
