P.S. I was actually going to reply to a comment but it got too long so I decided to keep it here.
I think it's the sort of storyline that is rooted in the Thai culture and gmmtv isn't known for this. In fact they have never done something like this before. So you can't really compare it to anything done in the past. There are programs in Thailand that talks about ghosts and are super popular, they talk about it day to day.
The filial piety that is very rooted in culture. It also deals with grief although they tried to not make it such a focus but when it comes to death, we automatically have grieve.
Personally, I'm not afraid of ghosts and I love horror stories so this wasn't something that was scary but I loved the mask. I was expecting some Scooby Doo mask π but instead got these amazing close-up of the mask and that was amazing. Episode 3 there is this moment that we get a close-up and I smiled because it was so nicely done. And kudos goes to the makeup department and artists for probably long hours sitting to finish that.
It also deals with one of societies biggest issues right now. Class. Lower, upper and middle class. Something ongoing around the globe but very rampant in the culture. There were huge discussions after a certain episode.
And regarding some wanting a romantic relationship, have you paid attention to these individual characters and what they have been through? The loss they have been dealing with? And this is the first time they are getting to really let things pass through their minds and ppl be like now hook-up. This is why most relationships don't last these days. They all need therapy and a big hug. At least now they have money for that one.
As I mentioned before, it's not your usual GMMTV show. Even many artists at the company wanted to work on something like this because it's so unique but it also shows GMMTV should dare go outside of their thinking and right now thinning box in terms of creating goods shows.
And if you ask me about the ratings it does deserve a solid 9. But the same as other places, there are ppl who are just rating it down because they don't want it to be higher than their faves although they haven't even watched it. Just check IMDb. I don't have an account there but you will find that the very same amount ppl logged in a rating of 1.0 just to keep it low. π. If you have an account over there, kindly rate it well. So ratings usually ain't the reason to watch a show or not. Just take in the comments. Unless it's CMTH π€£ the haters wanted that show to be bad but alas.
Anyway, I'm glad TayNew and Mook and Jan took this opportunity. Now give me the Jan Mook GL.
All im going to say is that they already won with all these discussions because that's what a good show brings. People coming with their theories and opinions and views. On to the next episode. I'm ready.
You said exposed evidence of a crime committed is lawfully wrong, that because he is her client so she must protect…
1. She is a lawyer, part of their in house lawyers and volunteered to help with the real estate selling. Literally how she was introduced to the story. That she is going to forsee the legal matters on the estates and volunteered to be there.
2. Finding something she thinks makes it impossible for her to be should be she should remove herself from the equation but she isn't doing so because she is doing all this with an agenda. She didn't post it for Peach. She did it for herself. And hopefully we get reasons why next week.
3. She stole the documents from the uncle which contained the information of the call the uncle had with the police after the uncle told her to ask if she needed documents and not just take it.
4. It's not a lawyers job to pass moral judgement on their clients. If you choose to represent a client, no matter their crime, your job is to get them off as best as you can. There is no moral obligation to report them over anything. If you find you can't represent them because of getting new information that you find morally impossible to represent, you have the right to terminate your contract with them.
5. As silly and unbelievable as it sounds, lawyers just like doctors are confidentiality bound. They can't just disclose information. Even if the client tells you they did the crime, as long as you have chosen to represent them, you have to keep that information to yourself and do whatever is necessary to get them a lenient sentence. You don't believe it. Read it up.
Once again this is fiction and I'm not passing out judgement or favouring anyone using my personal moral meter because right now I know jack besides a 5 seconds clip of him standing outside and this show is about giving twists and turns. Even more so when she accused him of being drunk when it's not so. Meaning she doesn't have all the facts either. You can be the moral high compass. I will be the factual person.
You said exposed evidence of a crime committed is lawfully wrong, that because he is her client so she must protect…
I haven't. I know something is driving her and whatever it is, it is tied to the family. Which also makes her emotional and her decisions can be reckless due to her emotions being forefront. She volunteered to do this work. And she is constantly looking for some sort of evidence to bring down the family, especially the uncle. So I want to see her story and what her motivations are. This is just episode 6 so we have a lot more to go through.
You said exposed evidence of a crime committed is lawfully wrong, that because he is her client so she must protect…
Seems you are bent on thinking everyone is kissing Homes behind cuz you think it's all about morals and yours being the correct one. Tbqh, you are the perfect watcher of the series cuz you are so serious about it. It's admirable. It's fiction. Nothing happening will happen as such in reality because no lawyer will dare do what she did. Let me make it short. Most lawyer after finding this out will continue to work with their clients knowing not to trust them or remove themselves. But by law, they still have to keep it secret unless they have a judge order them to release said information. And those are the facts. Thailand does have their own attorney client privilege law. The only time she is obligated to pass information to law enforcement is when she knows her client is going to commit a crime in the future. She is bind by law and most likely by her contract along with her NDA with the family. With any good lawyer, this could get her disbarred. As mentioned below, she stole the documents, blackmailed and even lied about how the accident came to be. He wasn't drunk driving. With enough evidence any lawyer can proof she has something against the family and is sabotaging them. Since you want to bring real life to fiction so much, in real world, the rich will surly get away with murder, if you hire an emotional lawyer like her. They only work and exist in fiction. We haven't even seen the entire clip and it doesn't seem as if she has seen it either. Each and every single of these characters are still open books we have yet to read to the end. All their reasons are justifiable. It's fiction. In reality I would still need more information than what's presented now.
There is a case in real life where the heir of Red Bull did a hit and run on a policeman and killed him in 2012,…
Well what she did ain't morally wrong. It was the best but she shouldn't be acting as a lawyer for the family because this can cost her not only her job with them but her career as a whole. Also, this, if it comes out how the information were obtained, can make any case that could have been brought up against Home become invalid as they were illegally obtained during blackmail and theft. Unless her entire goal was to have things exposed instead of finding legal justice, then she did the right thing. If not, she has ruined any chances of getting legal justice for Peach.
Ethically, she did the right thing. Everything else is a toss. Her emotions ruled here.
And I do know the case you mentioned, this isn't the only case where a rich kid got away with doing wrong in Thailand. Happens more often than not. And the legal loopholes is how these ppl always get away. Bribing, blackmailing etc is how they get away with it. And while exposing brings attention, as you mentioned, there is not guarantee that this will lead to the sort of justice one seeks. But this is a fictional story and we are missing so many backgrounds. Whether one chooses to condemn Home or not, we have yet to scratch the surface of what really is going on with him and with the whole family. Also we are missing forensic evidence of the crime scene etc and so many other parts.
People shouldn't forget that this is just episode 6. To release every details as to why will be detrimental to the story and plot. So of course they are not going to just full, release every details of the plot in an episode. We are going to get pieces of the puzzle over the next 6 episodes until we get the full picture.
Kan felt the need to publish that story although she heard Home tell Peach to give him some time and that he needed to talk to his family beforehand. Something he seemed to have disregard and was going to tell him either way.
We don't know why Home is dependent on his family as he is. We've just started with his storyline so why does he listen to his family and do as they say. What triggered this sort of obedience.
Morally, Kan is right. Lawfully, she is wrong. This is her client. Going behind his back and then exposing that sort of message. It can be dismissed considering it was obtained through intimidation and blackmail.
It's fascinating how they have woven everything together. Now it's time to entangle it.
After watching he did leave the hospital the same day. He basically wanted to go back due to the fact that someone…
Not really. Unfortunately these things happens way more often than we think. Maybe exaggerated in this case after a near death experience but unfortunately a whole lot of ppl take their ass home to literally die because they can't afford to stay longer. In his case leaving the hospital was less stressful than staying at the hospital where he was seeing ghosts cuz many ppl die in a hospital than in a kitchen. That was why he kept repeating there are no ghosts here. The fear was what drove him to leave.
okay but how come NO ONE at the restaurant knew that peach was hit by a car?? did he spend in the hospital only…
After watching he did leave the hospital the same day. He basically wanted to go back due to the fact that someone important was coming and he had an opportunity to showcase he was good. Yeah, the economy does that to one when you get the opportunity to make something out of yourself. Sad but actually accurate in the world we live in.
At this stage it's clear people are intentionally down voting this series because the first 2 episodes so far are great. Down voting cuz it's not a BL ain't a reason the same because you have your imaginary beef with the leads. If it continues at this pace, it's on its way to become one of gmmtvs best shows and a very good Thai horror comedy series.
That was a lovely episode and overall they elevated things and highlighted where highlighted was needed.
What I loved? That it was an ensemble and not rushed. I enjoyed seeing every single character get their bits and pieces and still tying it to the main 2. That was nicely done.
My only wish was that the Japanese company wasn't that greedy and had actually given them more leeway instead of holding on tight just so they could get their copyright in. They took away the chance for the show and themselves to benefit more from this adaptation. But again they shot themselves in the foot. Now no one is going to sign a contract with them until they have everything locked and perfect else they might get screwed too, so their loss.
1. Karan and Achi - I loved the progress their story had.
Achi going from staying in his shell to getting out of his shell but knowing he can go back whenever he feels like it. Taking steps to realising things he deemed as just dreams and making them a reality without losing who he is as a person. Not just taking from Karan but also giving to Karan. Equals and I liked that. The fact that he got on his knees and asked for Karan's hand in marriage as well. "chefs kiss". They are partners, they are equals. In the manga, in later volumes Achi gets mad at Kurosawa for always acting as the "man" and making decisions while leaving him out to "protect" him. I love that they took that out in this part.
Karan going from being a nice man who did things as requested of him without question to also getting brave. In a way that is something he and Achi does have in common. I always found the character to be a pushover in the manga and while it's not that extreme in this adaptation and it was still there. But they did a great job making it understandable and working on getting him out of it. Both are not 100% out of their "shells" as far as their problems goes but they are getting brave and taking it one day at a time. Him understanding that he doesn't have to be the "man" take charge and control. Once the courting is over and you are in a relationship it's about the both of you working with each other. Communicating, understanding, etc.
Karans father saying they can get married now but it's not legally binding makes one aware once again that there is a lot still be done. Hope in the near future they can register their marriage.
Jin and Min - not a fan of the character Jin in the manga the only time I liked him was when he worked with Adachi and they communicated without talking. Them changing the character was the right thing to do imho. Ju also did a good job. The character could have been so annoying and yet he made him loveable. I adore the friendship with Achi. The hug at the wedding is that of a best friend seeing their friend happy and also being proud.
Min working hard and still holding onto his dreams even as everyone moves on is probably something that resonates with many. I like that he isn't young. I think kids becoming "idols" and you have full grown adults "looking up" to them. They aren't allowed to be kids but being molded to act and be certain people. I'd rather have them a bit older.
Pai and Rock- I see a lot of " Pai is aro" so she should be so. In the manga the character is literally forgetable. You can count her scenes on one hand. And in the J-adaptation we have that one scene to base everything on. Because her scenes are so little everything has to be assumed as what we interpret it as. Here we have Pai who has a past, a present and a future. We see where she is coming from, where she currently is and where she might go to. Also being Aro doesn't mean you are asexual. You can be aro and still find people sexually attractive and be interested in doing the horizontal tango and vice versa. Nothing should be against her being in a relationship with Rock.
Which brings me to Rock. Ssing played the character well. At the beginning you found him annoying then he grows on you once you get to understand he is anxious hence the whole being all over the place. Leaving something he loves and navigating a world he felt not grown enough for but having to go into because he was worried about his future. I love their chemistry.
P'Duj, the heart of the office. I need more of her. Having everyone back and being there whenever one needs an adult to talk to.
The whole group at the new branch. Achi's and Karan's parents and sibling. Achi's aunt.
I wish they had more leeway. When you read they had to fight for scenes to be kept because the Japanese company didn't want to do so alone is insane.
Anyway, gmmtv should take this as a lesson learned and not allow something like this to happen to them again.
A comment to the production and not to the fans- I've already withdrawn from this series, but if someone from…
Your comments is what will save an entire industry? Your ego sure is huge. I've checked your watch list and your taste ain't that impeccable for you to be given out any sort of cinematic, script or otherwise advise about art much less someone else's culture. Just don't watch Thai shows and take your inflated sense of entitlement somewhere you are valued. And I can guarantee you that the Thai BL industry isn't going to get better advice on this website and I sure hope they don't because some of you really think your advice are sound.
You want to tell someone how they should tell their lands story because what they are telling you doesn't sound cultural enough and isn't what you view as art and when you lot get called xenophobic you scream murder.
It's like a clockwork. The moment everything becomes positive then suddenly the same 2 accounts will post, like and rt their same posts about how boring this show is and how amazing the Japanese adaptation is so they given up. π.
Maybe I should go to the Japanese adaptation site and talk about how boring and lack of backbone and agency Adachi had and the horrible second leads and lack of depth in general but that would require me to care.
Anyway, amazing episode. I for one loved what Achi did for their first Loy krathong. I'm loving the infusion of Thai culture in this show. It's very important to show the difference between the 2 cultures and they are doing a good job at that. First relationship in your life, waiting years to have the person you love and then having to leave for a short period of time as silly as it might sound, it makes sense for them to want to at the very least have that day together as a first of many to come. Go on you silly idiots, you will come back sooner than you know. Although I'm going to assume they will end up extending the stay the same way they have made him go early.
Funny so many Japanese adaptation fans were like oh Achi is passive, meanwhile did Adachi ever do these things? Anyway now that this is also cleared. Guess the one thing you have is "lack of chemistry" and "oh it's boring". Be creative because so far everything y'all hated got cleared.
Rock is a cutie pie. So clueless. Dude can read the room if you held it to his face. π. That's the huge difference between him and Pai, something some ppl lack to see. She is smart and perceptive. Well unless it's about her. π.
P'Duj is a doll. I'm glad they have also shown how different working cultures are in different countries. In my previous company I was so close to my colleagues, we laughed until other department heads asked us how come we are always so happy as a team. We did so much together. In my new team we do things together but I have to be honest I rarely go into the office so there is that.
The changes of the time for him to travel is very realistic. Happens all the time. This is work culture, if you want with anything that has to do with deadlines and adjustments.
I love that they don't let anything stay a misunderstanding for long but work through it asap.
Guess next week is going to be π₯.
*Will probably edit this later as I posted this with a few minutes to spare.
What you've described is pretty much what happens to every other show out there that's doing well. There'll always…
I don't care about them hating the show. To each their own. I'm rather disgusted by the casual display of xenophobia that it coming out of all of this. The idea that Japan is a superior country so per definition their shows are above that of Thailand and this of course complete disregard of the different cultures or saying one is better because of how they act. That's something I can't disregard. Like someone had the nerve to talk about have something against the first episode because they used an umbrella instead of a scarf. It's hot in Thailand. You would rather they fake snow? It's the insanity of these things that makes me wonder their age and their background because you just can't be that daft.
I was going to write a lengthy explanation, but you know what, eff it. They are practically insulting Taynew because they are unhappy with the show's popularity. I'm presuming the overall numbers on Twitter/X, with it trending WW and sending nearly 1 million tweets in 24 hours, started the whole thing anew. I am also certain that when GMMTV removed it from YouTube due to rights issues, they expected it to crush and burn.
First and foremost, I'm not a big fan of the manga, and in my opinion, GMMTV should focus on finding good scriptwriters and creating storylines that are best suited to their country, as well as supporting their locals, rather than chasing after Japanese manga. The only thing they are doing is paying money that might otherwise be better spent supporting their locals.
Your artists do not deserve to be mocked from all sides because of this.
The good news is that I'm confident TAYNEW will receive credit where it is due, and the haters will be even more disappointed that they did not smash and burn as they had hoped.
The latter two episodes were primarily on life lessons. The first was communication, while the second was workplace harassment. Just because you don't want to see it doesn't make it any less significant. Sure not everything is great in the show but if you are going to hate that it is slow then I can't help you.
1. Pai is an independent, intelligent, and savvy lady who has noticed one of her colleagues liking the other and is now witnessing them get together. Being satisfied with their accomplishments does not make you the filth of the planet. We've all cheered for a couple in life and were delighted to see them happy.
Someone mentioned the so-called heterosexual aspect of their connection. How is this so? Since when is courting someone a heterosexual activity? One of the key conflicts addressed in the most recent manga is Karan/Ku's preference to carry his load alone, which Achi/Adachi tells him he despises and that they are a pair and should help each other. See communication.
Someone mentioned the duo being stiff; one had never been in a relationship, and the first person he begins with is a guy he used to find intimidating is more the word. Should they jump and tear at each others clothes right away? The characters are cuddly when together in their space else they are professional in their work environment. The previous episode shows Achi letting his defenses down.
It's fine to criticize and dislike anything, but being cruel because you despise the success and the region that is creating the story is insane.
Also, instead of pulling things out of your behind, you should read the manga, which is the sole original content here, before having a breakdown. No amount of downvotes and coming up with insults will make the show worse than the Japanese version. As of now they are on par and in some ways the Thai version having the upper hand because they have enough time to flesh out the characters compared to the 25 minutes from the Japanese one, so it's not even something bad to say.
At the end of the day it's an effing show and nothing warrants the stupidity that some of you are displaying. Japan isn't going to award for camping on their behalf.
Iβm going to write something once Iβve had something to eat because Iβm getting tired of the Japanese version enthusiastic and their non constructive criticism but pure woe is me and itβs not the Japanese version wahhh cries.
