I'm a total fan and did feel her characters in those two dramas fell a bit flat. It might be hard to go back to super old dramas but I decided to follow her acting through City Hunter & Sungkyunkwan Scandal and recommend these.

Have you started Death's Game? I generally feel the same way but recommend that one on Amazon.

"The constant appearance of the male lead whenever the female lead faces trouble [anywhere]" is many, many, or most dramas with romance. But in MYS, I actually felt that the ML was constantly approaching FL to request help from her. FL was just there to chill, please.

Re: your spoiler question -- I was fully on the TSJ ship for the first 20-30 episodes then ended jumping ship back n forth pondering who deserved XY more until it suddenly dawned on me that XY character degraded so much that I asked the same question you did: Does XY deserve each of the 4 ML? Then the title suddenly made SO much sense. I share the same sentiments in your review and could not have written it better.
