If you have watched Hannibal before, this show becomes quite predictable and not so thrilling for you. But, the story is solid and Lee Dong Wook aces his role to the best!
I lost it when his sister said "I know everything. I'm always on your side". I just broke down. And I realized deep down I wanted somebody to say that to me. I needed somebody to be on my side when I was hopeless and lost and down in the gutter. This movie brings out so many emotions. Also the book recommendations and the art connected to this movie makes it even better.
Ok first things first. Duke Su my Duke Su. His entrance was so iconic. Wang Xing Yue is so talented. He really is the best in portraying strict, headstrong characters. Wu Jin Yan did a great job as well. After her performance is Yanxi Palace, this is the best (Still love her character in Yanxi palace more🤭) I got hooked from the first episode and that burial scene was done so well with great music! The song played in that scene was so so good. Got to say that I like the first half of the drama more than the second half. WANNING IS SO DAMN GOOD. The actress who played that character really did her job in the best way possible. Though her character was horrible she did a damn great job portraying the emotions of the character. Seriously the only 2 times I cried in this drama was when they showed the backstory of Wanning being a hostage in Dai Country, being pregnant by force and all alone in a farm and the scene when she died in the rain. The way she was smiling just before stabbing herself! Ah I really love Li Meng, the actress who plays her. All in all a job well done!
I feel like if I watch this I'm just gonna be like "Nooo Xie Wei don't cheat on Ning'er!!!!!"
After watching him as Xie Wei in Kunning palace it was impossible for me to be invested in Gong Ziyu here. I should probably wait till I forget Xie Wei😭
