News Clichè yet enjoyable
Siwan and Seol A are both powerhouse names in the Korean acting industry. Back in May when this drama was first announced, I knew I had to watch it, as both are extremely talented with the exact range needed to pull this plot off.
Three episodes in, the show does well to characterise everyone and balance the comedy with suspense. However, I must warn you that there is very obviously elements of AI in this drama and frankly it is diminishing to the quality of the show and the actors themselves. I cannot overlook how AI is affecting us creatively, especially considering that you have two very popular, mainstream actors at the forefront of the cast, so the budget should equally represent that.
Despite this, this show is a classic return to old-school Korean drama humour, with extremely silly and funny scenes. Seol A plays a man wonderfully well, as she actually looks and acts the part too. This plot is common in manhwas in Korea, but on the TV screen it is fairly rare in terms of being good. Let's see if Love in Disguise can follow in the footsteps of Coffee Prince's original charm, or if it can carve a new place for itself.
