For me personally this drama kinda remind me of Harry Potter & Avatar Aang. I usually don't like historical drama (except fews) but since this drama is more fantasy (the genre i like) i think plot-wise it is a very recommended high fantasy drama with romance, comedy, mistery etc. The interesting part for me is the fantasy element in it, how the alchemy of souls complicated things, how mages control energy. Many twist here and there. You will keep guessing what will happen next but mostly failed. The characters has some depth within and not just what people seen outside. To be honest this is one of the dramas that keeps me going without skipping any part.
I really disappointed with comment section here. Nowdays it's getting annoyed and only filled with fanwar between shippers/actors actresses' fans. I came here hoping to find theories and some healthy discussions yet it is Start Up situation all over again.

It's just about taste tho. For you these filler scenes might annoying and boring, but other people enjoy it although is it indeed filler. Not all drama has to be to the point and just about the main story. For me as long as the fillers are enjoyable to watch i wouldn't mind. Me myself i don't like healing dramas and healing dramas make me bored. Even when those drama has high rating like our blues etc.

I'm a fan of HMH since nuest era, i've seen his previous works even in the sitcom one. During Live On, his acting was still lacks. But i found his improvement in AOS. Many of my kpop & drama lover mutuals also said Minhyun's acting in this drama is legit. For me being his fan would not make me defend him if his acting is that bad. Like in Live On. But here in AOS he's pretty good. It's just that Yul's character which people find quite boring.
