https://futiledevices.blog/chusans-liuyi-childrens-day/Personally, I’ve gone through almost all the versions…
Some spicy scenes are missing in this version. I think because they run the translation through AI via mass upload, the AI misses some descriptions and some scenes. Which sucks, because my impression is that the original Chinese text is far more vivid and detailed (not just talking about the spicy scenes, but certain descriptions).
I checked some scenes, and surprisingly, the Wattpad version (before it got deleted) had certain scenes which weren't present in the futilescans translation. Also vice versa, the Wattpad version has many missing scenes which are present in futilescans. Ofc, the futilescans version is more complete.
Well, it gives me hope they are editing the chapters in futilescans. Hopefully they include all the missing details.
It really sucks that there is currently no official translation of this novel. It's one of the novels for which absolutely deserves a licensed translation. I heard Rosmei has picked this series up, and knowing how beautiful their covers are, I am excited.
That scene from the last episode that you're describing is my favourite moment of the entire episode, I might…
Yes, flowers need to be given to the cinematography team! The color composition and the lighting of this show is wonderfully done. The lighting alone needs to have a separate post of its own, tons of things to analyze from it.
Rewatching the show, still can't get over how handsome Xia Liu Yi looks covered in blood. All of his fight scenes are so badass! Yanzhao really has that natural arresting presence onscreen in action scenes. Like he moves very smoothly with the blades and it's very satisfying to watch. You really FEEL like he's not someone to be messed with, he has that feral wild energy.
There was a shot from the finale that really stayed with me. He is emerging in the doorway with his dual blades and the backdrop behind him is such a deep red that he is almost like a black silhouette when he faces the enemies. You see his face and his eyes and he is just radiating pure killing intent. I was like, wow, this actor really knows the character of Xia Liu Yi down to his mannerisms in different situations.
It really is perfect casting, right down to his looks (and the melanin!). How he effortlessly switches from being adorable to being a chilling killer who means business really is commendable. I remember reading a review that mentioned how he brings a rawness onscreen, and that's so true. Every thing he conveys is so beautifully raw and loud, whether is anger, shyness, being flustered, arrogance, pride, sadness. It's raw and honest, just like this character. Really poor at hiding his feelings, so he expresses what he feels at the moment openly, either verbally or non verbally. Which is what makes his contrast with He Chu San so fascinating to watch as He Chu San is the opposite.
He Chu San's face is hard to read, but he knows how to reveal what he feels through his eyes when he wants to. He is also good at hiding his emotions and having a poker face and blank eyes when he wants to. Talk about a cunning person! Perfect mannerisms for manipulator who probably starts off being unaware that he even has such manipulative capabilities.
In the beginning, we see him as the powerless student who is pretty fearful. We still see that he does have a backbone, despite the power difference between him and Xia Liu Yi and his initial fear of hanging around an underworld triad boss who orders his men to chop of the fingers of his enemies. He puts his foot down that he doesn't wanna be Xia Liu Yi's underling, something he echoes every other episode and doesn't budge on.
I said before that He Chu San knows where to reveal his true emotions. Anytime he is concerned for Xia Liu Yi, he doesn't hesitate to show it openly. That scene in ep 7 when he says he doesn't want to see Xia Liu Yi to get hurt, his eyes are full of concern, fear and stubborness. I thought then that the actor's eyes managed to convey a lot of emotions at once. This role would absolutely flop in the hands of someone who can't act with their eyes. In ep 4 after the bus scene (where He Chu San sees Xia Liu Yi and his gang celebrate opening of the shop in the screen), Xia Liu Yi and his gang members meet up with He Chu San. At first when we see all the gangsters with Xiao Ma in the centre picking their teeth with the toothpick and smirking, He Chu San looks lost and naive and flustered and stumbles on his bike.
And then Xia Liu Yi emerges. The camera does a slow pan up his body before settling on Xia Liu Yi's face with the black glasses. Then we do a zoom of He Chu San's reaction. His whole expression changes, and if you look at the background, it's like the background and the gangsters all fade into a blur because he only has eyes for Xia Liu Yi.
He doesn't look like a naive flustered kid anymore all of a sudden. In that moment in ep 4, we catch the first glimpse of the prince he also becomes in episode 8 when he kabedons Xia Liu Yi against the wall and teases him asking why he looks guilty. We see him looking at Xia Liu Yi with this same calmness and intensity in his gaze, obviously serene inside.
In the novel, this moment is described in He Chu San's point of view as 'a roaring filled his head when he looked at this person approaching'. Then the spell breaks and then he goes back to being awkward and nervy around Xia Liu Yi and his gang members.
They filmed s1 in like 20 days though, didn't they? I think once they start, it should go relatively smoothly.…
So I checked again and it says casting began on September 12 2025. Filming took place between November and December 2025.
The interesting thing is, in one of the posters they mentioned that the show was gonna have 12 episodes and that the shooting will take place over 40 days. Ep 9 is an awkward number to stop at, but that would technically be the best place to end on a cliffhanger if they planned on making another season.
Also apparently the original novel was pretty popular. The audiobook for the novel was also pretty popular. I've translated some statistics from the poster:

It's kinda fascinating how quick the casting and the shoot happened for Sammy's Children's Day. I remember seeing a poster on the boyslove subreddit announcing casting calls for this show, like they wanted to find actors for the two main roles six months ago. This was late 2025. And now all of a sudden we have this show, so that's fast!!
20 days seemed so short to me at first until I realised it's only 9 episodes. And this is a Chinese production after all, they make shows pretty quick.
Word of Honor, a censored CBL had like 37 eps including the epilogue and that took three to four months to film. I was shocked when I heard that because that show has a massive cast of side and minor characters. Even though the budget for that show was kinda small. Now I am curious how much time post production of a show usually takes.
That bus scene is one of my absolute favourite moments of the entire drama. So cinematic! It's nice reading impressions…
The bus scene made me feel things. I think that was when I realised how good the coloring of the show is. It's so vibrant and nostalgic. Wong Kar Wai vibes were there.
Not to mention the wardrobe of all the characters. Especially Xia Liu's shirts and ties. I love the patterns and I loveee the contrast in the character design for Chu San and Xia Liu Yi. Also, shoutout to Dong Dong's outfits and hair.
Ikr! Reminds me how I've been singing praises about Yanzhao's portrayal of Xia Liu Yi that I feel compelled to do one for Changxi's He Chu San as well.
He Chu San is cute and innocent and nervous when the series begins(almost rabbit-like), but then proceeds to get hotter with every episode. He has that cool introverted mysterious charm to him. Xia Liu Yi said it best in an ep; he said Chu San is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. I love how expressive his eyes are, he is able to show so many emotions through his eyes alone
Especiallyyy when He Chu San shows a different sly and cunning side later on, I sat up and I was like, how the heck did his whole vibe change to daddy? In such a believable manner too. No wonder Xia Liu Yi gets so tongue tied and flustered whenever He Chu San looks at him up close and personal, like damnn
Honestly, I’d be over the moon if we actually got a second season. I’m willing to wait as long as it takes,…
Thanks for the info. Fingers crossed they will officially announce s2 through the production company at some point if they plan on one. It gives me hope though that all four actors of the two main couples were signed to the same company simultaneously. It would be such a loss of great chemistry to not utilise them for more seasons if the actors are onboard w it (if I get bold, new shows too lol)
Honestly, I’d be over the moon if we actually got a second season. I’m willing to wait as long as it takes,…
Could you tell me in your opinion why season 2 could happen? Has anyone said anything? I have not looked at the socials of the cast after the show yet. I am looking for clues that anyone in the crew has provided about a second season cuz I am out of the loop
Definitely watch it! When I saw the title of the show for the first time, I thought it was silly. Huh? Children's Day? Sounded kinda juvenile. I gave it a go and it's now one of my all time favorite shows despite being a short drama, BL or no BL. It’s basically about a studious university student who gets dragged into the dangerous world of Hong Kong triads and ends up crossing paths with a ruthless and brutal gang enforcer.
What starts as mistrust turns into this slow-burn romance while they’re surrounded by gang violence and corruption inside Kowloon Walled City (Kowloon Walled City was an densely populated, largely ungoverned enclave in British Hong Kong, known as the world's most densely packed neighborhood before its demolition in 1993–1994.)
You get the feeling that the two leads are really perfect together. One is calm and composed, the other feels like a barely controlled storm, and watching them get drawn into each other's orbit despite their contrast is *chef's kiss*. Oh, and the chemistry is ridiculously good
Anyone reading this, please consider supporting them officially as much as you can. (I would recommend subscribing to their YouTube channel and paying for the access to all episodes). It would definitely help the case for a second season.

It says 30 percent of the novel has been translated so far and that there will be 5-6 volumes in total
