What a way to wrap the show. A bit rushed, but satisfying. One might even say it was fulfilling… Anyhow, very difficult for me to express what this show means to me as an autistic person that has hidden it away his entire life. I’m thankful to everyone involved in the production for making this show that has affected me so profoundly.
“It’s that guy, again!” I’m new to kdramas, but he’s made an appearance in 3 of the 5 I’ve completed, so I finally looked up his profile and… HOLY CRAP! He’s been working his ass off for decades. Really liked his performance as the main character’s grandfather in The Uncanny Counter.
I have mixed feelings. I’m new to kdramas (before EAW I watched Kingdom (loved), and Squid Game (didn’t finish; meh)). I’ve watched more since, and what I love is the fixed length, one-and-done format. I love stories with actual endings.
That said, having watched episode 15, and based on how it ended by introducing another complication (I don’t want to spoil it), I can actually see a lot of interesting new themes to explore in season 2. I’m going to remain open minded about it.
What really bugs me though, is just how out of place episodes 13 and 14 were. I have no idea how much time exists between shooting and airing an episode, but it seems that they were heavily altered to lay the groundwork for a season 2 after the initial episodes exploded in popularity. I mean, what else do you do when Netflix brings you sacks of cash for season 2? But it sucks to see what it did to an otherwise very tight storyline.
