I have been perplex to why Orchid calls DFQG Big wooden head and realized that it sounds very similar to saying big demon head in Chinese, so I guess it is her friendly nickname for calling him big devil . Da mu Tou 大木头 vs. da mo tou 大魔头. I think in the book she calls him big demon head.. starting reading yesterday.

I’m sure he pay by dying and waiting 500 years to come back. Also, with these prices they have to pay, they usually cut you some slack if you save the world your actions. Chidi saving Rong Hao caused the world more grief than it brought it salvation. They got what they deserved. DFQC sacrificed himself in place of orchid to kill Taisui, so he changed her fate, but also his own, by dying earlier than he should. This is similar to what happened in AOL, their version of the turtle god said Jinmi is supposed to die, but was given the chance to come back because her death saved a lot of people.
