I find the side story makes the drama less entertaining. I don't mind side stories in the drama but I prefer more plots by the emperor since the actor is so damn good for being a tyrant and torturing his children.
This actor plays bad guys in the previous C-dramas.
Hua Zhi & Gu Yan Xi split up today! I think the emperor is moulding Gu Yan Xi to be his successor. He dislikes his own flesh and blood ie. his entire breed. Hahaha.
He only loves GYX and is willing to forgive him for deceiving him.
The Emperor has pissed off the Dowager Empress.
What exactly did the Emperor try to hide the secret in the palace that so far the story hasn't revealed? We know the Eldest Prince is insane and imprisoned by the Emperor.
We also know so far the emperor had loved a woman before but her entire family was executed by the emperor and she committed suicide. We also know the emperor also has 4th and 5th princes since we have only seen the 6th prince unless the formers have died young or etc.
Bai Yu and other supporting casts made this series worth watching although I am not a fan of C-thriller drama.
I barely missed an episode or skipped a part due to my curiosity about what the next storyline is. This is a good sign from me myself because I am impatient when it comes to drama.
Any likelihood that Gu Yanxi will overthrow the emperor and replace him with the 6th Prince?
The way he treated his sons, the emperor has no mercy at all. His first son is insane; 2nd son dead; 3rd son - no storyline associated with this one yet but there will be one soon; and 6th son scarred which ruled him out to be a possible candidate as an heir to throne unless ShaoYao's magic medical formula is able to make the scar on the poor boy's forehead disappear and restore him to the candidacy.
One word to describe this drama so far the best Chinese drama for me this year. Especially love a strong FL, and…
What does the final scene imply? Did Princess Yue imagine the scene? I think the boy could have been the son of Li Tong Guang and Princess Yang Ying.
The scene between Princess Yang Ying and the King of An in Episode 33 is the climax in the drama. She is a better diplomat and strategist compared to all officials in the Wu State.
Li Tong Guang and Yang Ying as a copuple is a perfect union. He needs a strong woman like Princess Li to be on his side.
He is actually impressed by her demeanour and in fact smitten every time she is present. She is very patriotic like he himself is. He is a soldier and country's peace and safety are his priorities so when the princess describes her vision to him at their pre-wedding scene, he totally agrees with her.
He is in love with her. She is his true love. In fact, they consumated their marriage as in Episode 39, the Princess says she will remember Yuan Lu in her lifetime when her grandchildren eat sweets and her hair turns grey.
Boss Bai used to be a beggar before he opened up his own business. So, in terms of status, no noble families will even consider him to be a son-in-law except those from the business circle who happened to have a lower social status in the Chinese feudal system.
The pace has so far been decent but the cooking competition has dragged for too long. One episode would have been adequate. This one is nearly two episodes.
We now know that the Second Prince is the culprit behind the poisoning of the emperor and he'll be demoted and sent into exile to the Northern Region where Hua Zhi's male family members are currently settled.
I really enjoyed this series although the ML can be annoying. I blamed it on the director for not directing the character properly.
The ML can be ruthless when he needs to be but when it comes to his love, he is willing to let her do what she wants. Honestly, he isn't a lover material simply because he is an emperor who is destined to be ruthless and selfish.
The ending is rather open to interpretation. We just don't know where she ends up except she says she wants to go travelling by herself.
I am not really hooked up on this drama but as I have nothing to do, it's a good comfort to watch the first four episodes.
I cannot wait to watch Episode 6, not Epi 5.
That's why he is so good. I actually prefer his scenes compared to GYX-HS scenes.

Unlike the romance between the couple in the drama, The Bond, this one looks so awkward

Even the King of An is weary of her.
Everyone knows it's a comedy in the storyline so I didn't get offended at all watching these scenes.
