The drama starts off silly. I mean it’s still hold up to it but it’s entertaining alright. Hard to put down once I started it. I love the acting. Leads and comedic characters have a satisfying depth and they have done a good job. Other elements like writing, music and storytelling in a thriller format are all particularly satisfying that this show feels like a breath of fresh air after watching a series of blood drenched gritty thrillers. Can’t wait for the rest of the episodes!
I am not really a fan of this genre, I’d avoid shows from this genre anytime. But given that I like most actors in this show, I thought I’d sample just one episode. And just like The Worst of Evil, this show has got me unexpectedly captivated!
Nothing felt middle-ground. It’s intense, with insane levels of violence, bloodshed and profanity. Every scene just plain raw and gritty.
So far the story line is so-so but the direction is just top-notch. Performances are exceptional, as the actors completely inhabit their morally complex characters. And action sequences are brutal and beautifully done. The parking lot scene with the background soundtrack left me mesmerised !
If this pace and intensity keeps up, it could be a great series. Looking forward for next episodes even though i totally dislike the genre lol
I’ve watched my fair share of historical dramas, and they rarely let me down. Even if they don’t have everything, they usually deliver on story and character depth. But this one? It is quite a let down for me in the first 3 episodes so far.
This is such a big production but from the get-go, the editing in the first couple of episodes felt like the team was rushed.. many rough cuts and bad transitions. Visually, though, it’s stunning: great camera work, beautiful costumes, and makeup. Still shots from this show would look stunning.
There’s a solid cast of awesome actors in the show, but they have not been leveraged to their potential. Even dialogs are quite boring. Actors have tried to pull off emotional scenes with great expressions but they can only do so much with such lack of story telling. With only eight episodes, you’d think they’d use every minute wisely, but clearly they’re aiming for shock over substance. I was hoping for a rich storyline with complex characters, was not expecting such a shallow story telling.
This is a good one so far. I have dropped many shows lately by eps 4, but this one has got me eagerly waiting for next episodes. Found all characters interesting and pacing is good, the story so far is nothing ground breaking but told nicely and actors have done a very good job.
It’s a precious show. Best of 2023. It feels shallow initially, but the format of storytelling is such that it adds depth as episodes progress. It’s fun, relaxing with top notch acting, visuals and soundtrack. If you like the genre, definitely worth a watch.
Is this your first time watching a K-drama? Alcohol is basically part of almost of Kdrama plot and even though…
I was shocked too about alcohol when I watch my first kdrama “something in the rain” a couple of years ago.. but I loved that show so much along with may more shows that I quickly got over the alcohol part as I realize it to be a culture thing. I appreciate that they retain the cultural parts and not sugar coat shows for the benefit of international audience. I have watched many international shows across a lot of languages. Kdramas stand out in terms of quality and production value.
this love triangle that is being pushed really bothers me, it’s useless to the storyline and totally unnecessary
There is no love triangle. Sang do character has not moved on from his first love and Sam dal returning to town with no boyfriend got his hopes up. He is now in a different age group, so his determination and courage level is different. This being a healing drama, Sang do character is meant to go through a healing process. He has lived in a small town all his life and had no opportunities to move on or tried to move on from his current feelings. This is a more real life character than some can imagine. He is meant to get a closure and that will happen only once he confesses to Sam dal. There is no love triangle here. This is a healing journey of Sang do just like every other character have their own unique journey.
He doesn't even look like a man...With so much filter on face and that childish hairstyle..38 year old acting…

I feel JCW looks very heavily made up in the show. He is so so handsome and is not even playing younger than his…
I think it’s not the make-up but it is rather the editing for cinematic effect. A soft glow filter (not sure if it’s the right term) has been applied though out all frames. The effect shows across all characters. I don’t see the makeup being an issue when viewing BTS.
Am loving it!!!
