Dubbing is a very common practice in China. The main reason is that there are many dialects in China and people from different parts of China or people from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore etc will have different accents when speaking Mandarin. They will get voice actors to dub in the standard Mandarin accent so that it’s more consistent and viewers can better understand the dialogue.
Another reason for dubbing is for voices that better match the character (personally I think it’s unnecessary). Like how Xiaoqi is very cute and girly so she has a very high pitched voice. Wan Peng’s voice is a lot deeper.
is the Ruyi 's actor a bit too old? is this worth watching if i want to watch a drama with pretty actress?
Even at her older age, she is such a unique beauty imo. She is only supposed to be younger at the beginning of the show. At times, her age will show, but at other times it's quite believable. But her acting makes up for everything. Such a captivating actress.
Why so many supportive roles lately, hope it was her choice.
It looks like she's getting roles for more serious dramas. I think it's a good thing. She probably doesn't want to be a romcom actress for the rest of her career.
