If I remember correctly, it's a spinoff series of the original Chaser Game series which is based off of a manga/novel. This however, is a new original story that takes place in that shared universe. I think I read that the main leads both had a slight cameo in the OG series.

I'm only really watching the uncut version but it's interesting to think about just how much they've cut out. I honestly think that those extra scenes and character insights, really elevate this series into something a lot better with a stronger impact!
