A story-telling masterpiece

I've been a huge fan of Cheng Yi since love and redemption and I have to say writers need to stop giving him roles where he goes through a lot all the damn time. My heart always hurt seeing him in pain!
I kept pushing back watching MLC because there was no cultivation in the series, but Cheng Yi and Joseph Zhang drew me in, and I have to say I enjoyed every bit of it. I've always been a fan of mystery, and the cases they dealt with were delivered well, especially in connection with the main plot. Twists here and there will leave you in awe, and the interactions between the leads will amuse you from time to time. The martial arts here reminded me of cultivation dramas from time to time, and the stunts were cool to watch. Overall, it was worth watching, but my baby deserves better in all his dramas!

Too many fine characters

Since last year, I have been seeing YouTube recommend FOF, so I decided to hop on the train. At first, episode 1 seemed intriguing, but I was starting to lose interest. I managed to survive three more episodes when things started to get interesting, and before I knew it, I was done.
Pros
1. Fine characters. The characters were all visually appealing, including the villains (Li Lun especially). This made watching the drama a lot easier as I got to see fine faces on my screen all the time, minus the middle-aged villain
2. Dialogue. I found the dialogue between the group quite entertaining, bringing smiles to my face from time to time. The dialogue aided in setting the fact that there was a great friendship among the group
3. Stunts. I must give the director kudos because the fighting scenes were on point. Pei especially always blew my mind whenever she fought, as the stunts were quite impressive, just like the other leads. I love how strong her character was in this drama.

Cons
1. Weak female lead. It still makes no sense how the fl was weak from the beginning till the end, even when she had the title of a goddess. At least a simple martial art would have sufficed. Even after obtaining the baize token, her ability didn't seem to improve, as 80% of the time she was either crying or looking helpless on the floor, compared to the other female lead, who was stronger and not a liability to the group.
2. Too many tears. I could feel the emotions from the character as the plot progressed, and I love how well each character expressed their feelings. But the director abused it so much that I almost didn't feel much when it mattered.

Overall
It is a great watch with a few twists. I love the friendship, but the drama could have been shorter.

Should have been 24 episodes

I've been so excited for this one since they released its trailer so I had high expectations for it. As I've been watching wuxia back to back, it's easy to get tired if the plot gets draggy or boring. While it's a great drama, I'll list out the reasons for my ratings.
1. They pushed most of the actions towards the end. The leads didn't even have many conversations (about 30%) compared to the side characters, meaning unnecessary screentime for supporting characters. Hence, my point is that they would have achieved the same thing with 24 episodes. I mean, they were even talking about the love story of one grandpa and one woman like that...who cares?? They also gave too much screen time to another father-daughter relationship of one of the side characters
2. From the title, you would know it was a love-hate relationship so I could understand their relationship. For me, what she made him go through seemed too much because she kept punishing him over and over again, and this was someone she loved. She plotted for years and damn she did act well in her plotting because I thought Li Qinyue wasn't her at all. She had punished him after her tribulations, locked him up for years, and after 400 years, she's still out for blood. And to top it all, the boy knew all along and kept indulging her. He never tried to hurt her, but couldn't understand why she hated him so much. That should have even made him investigate what went on in her life in the human realm, but no, he decided to do so towards the end. But like they say, the bigger the love, the deeper the hatred.
3. The Empyrean was a useless character. Only showing up to punish, but will not fight when there's a bigger evil.
4. The acting of the leads were great with the right emotions being conveyed.
Overall, the drama was good; the leads had great chemistry, and the drama did live up to its title - Feud. Because it was mainly centered around that, there were a few boring moments here and there, but watching Joseph Zhang's face for hours was a dream come true because I missed him! The kiss scene in the end did pacify things a little though....lol

Highly overrated but bland on the inside

I guess I can't seem to learn my lesson from not watching dramas based on reviews. I've seen a lot of wuxia/xiaxia dramas, so I'm quite unimpressed. I lasted till episode 21 because I had downloaded up to that, and the female was exciting to watch.
This drama felt so bland that I couldn't see exactly what everyone was praising. The few actions we got from the fl were great, but the plot itself wasn't engaging. I'm not a fan of the ml visuals, and he seemed to have all the time in the world in his hands, doing nothing but taking a walk. They had quite a few cute scenes and some of their interactions were funny but that was all I got. His acting was a little rigid. I preferred her general to the ml, but who am I to decide who she loves? Overall, the drama had potential but ended up being average for me. There was no tension or intense storyline to make me want to start the next episode.

Unrealistic and a complete waste of time

I basically had to create an account because I wanted to pen down my thoughts. I’ve been seeing Hello sharpshooter everywhere so I had great expectations for it; especially because I just finished watching miss crow and mr lizard. It was such a total disappointment!

Honestly Hui Yuitan is such an handsome actor but I’ve never completed any of his dramas because his characters always feels plain, forced and unrealistic. It’s basically like trying to make sense out of nonsense. He’s always so stiff, bony and bland. I’ve never liked any of his characters and this drama was no different. A love so beautiful might have been manageable but not go go squid.

I pick up the drama and the ml suddenly isn’t focused on his game at the appearance of the fl…next thing the girl is affecting him mentally, I’m told he can’t remember his past, and suddenly he’s liking her. All in the space of five episodes and the drama is 40 episodes long! Do the writer think it’s kids that are watching the show. I was very pissed because I had downloaded 20 episodes and didn’t want to waste my data so I kept pushing through but felt stupid the more I went forward. The foundation of their relationship is totally unrealistic as everything seems rushed but slow at the same time. You’ll have to watch it to understand my point of view. I get they’re trying to portray him as someone without much social life but I’ve seen better from other dramas.

The fl character too is just annoying. Well maybe they had a past and she’s still attracted to him after all these while but they didn’t have to make her character dumb, always staring at him and acting awkward. There’s zero chemistry for me and right from the start I knew the drama was a big no. I don’t know what the doctor is trying to heal in the fl and next scene the ml suddenly agrees to move in with her. What’s shocking more is how he basically went from dislike in the first episode to interested in the next and I’m telling you the change was so basic and blahhhh

My review probably seems all over the place but that’s literally how the drama is. Wasting time from the beginning and it’s going to 40 episodes come on!

What exactly were you people watching and praising that I’m not seeing? Reminds me of once we get married another rubbish drama but I’ll review that one separately.

Pls refrain from hyping rubbish and deceiving people to watching it. Be honest with yourself because some of your reviews can go a long way. I can’t imagine having a bad day and coming to watch this drama… my anger would be so justified.
Xin fei has done better dramas than this so I know she’s a great actress so I can’t blame her character but she could have chosen better.

If you’re looking for dramas with good plots and cool relationship foundations, consider put your head on my shoulder, perfect and casual, falling into your smile, unforgettable love, love is sweet, you’re my glory and a lot others

But if you want to doubt your sanity and want an anyhow plot with zero flow, then you can watch this drama. But note you must have a lot of time on your hand.

No hate intended just frustration…
