I'm genuinely curious what has happened to recent KDramas. The premise is interesting, the production is amazing, the actors are phenomenal, so the first couple episodes really draw you in. Then the writers and director take the potential and throw it down the drain. Tastefully Yours, Dynamite Kiss, then this. Could have been so great only to been ruined.
What's crazy is when you go to the official tvn website for the show, the SML poster is shown first and the ML and main poster shown last. Representative of how much screen time the characters get lol
This is genuinely horrendous. Not even worth dissecting everything, just so awful. Bae In Hyuk and Park Yu Ho should just make a reality show where he takes care of him like The Return of Superman, make everyone forget about this mistake.
For a show that uses the same premise of Life as We Know It, it fails to replicate the charm and pace the movie had. In attempts to add Korean drama tropes and plot points it takes away from what should be at the center of the show or "their universe", the child. From what should have a story on how two people overcome their dislike for each other to help nurture a child, fall in love and create a family the child needs, it turns into story the writers cannot seem to handle. The ML, who has the lesser connection to the child is playing every role, the FL desperate to seem responsible but unable to properly address any aspect of what's going on in her life, and a SML who doesn't understand his place.
With the writing in regards to ML and FL's relationship, genuinely she should go with the SML as I can't picture a setting in which the writers don't rush or give a pleasant ending that would make all this seem worth it. An introduction of a second female lead that is ready to handle this dynamic would be preferable.
