Yeah the writing makes us like this. If they worked together against evil or something, we wouldn’t compare them. The problem is that the drama did pit them against each other. At some point it’s unavoidable to compare the suffering of character, and this is not about hating on the other character. We simply can’t talk whether jeongyo action be right or not without taking suffering into account.

And honestly the writer did put too much misfortune on jeongyo’s head

Honestly your comment makes me redefine what I thought as happy ending. But no matter how I think about it, I can’t find it now
Would knowing the truth be happy ending?
What if pio mom got jailed? Is it happy ending?
Would them becoming friends again be happy ending?
But even if jeongyo somehow got the use of his hand again, it’s now hard to call it happy endign. Cause now that you spell it out, he had lost too much, 9 years of suffering is too long of time.

I really think if at least during that 9 years he was instead adopted and live in happy family, it wouldn’t be this hard. It’s because every kind of misfortune is dumped into him that it’s hard to define what sort of ending would make this drama acceptable

Aside from his talent, what does choi jeongyo even have? only too much misfortune.
While his life would still be tumultuous even if he didn’t be friend with pio after that performance together, it wouldn’t be worse than what had happened to him. Alas even if we go back in time to stop that boy from being friend, he wouldn’t believe such thing could happen to him

In simpler word, yeah choi jeongyo is character who are done dirty, he needs to shoulder all kind of pain and misfortune, yet in the end being used as prop to push the protagonist to break his shell and be better pianist. It was fhat way 9 years ago, and still that way now. His character is afterthought, only necessary to push pio to grow

In a way, other characters are written like this too, like jaein who only exist to provide support when necessary

I had to rewatch that scene and now it really has different feels, his anger wasn’t born out of nothing but by the pain of losing everything yet can’t be seen or heard by anyone 😔

I just rewatched and I cried everytime I saw him holding his right hand 😭💔The fact that director never focused on this and I had to realize from edits is proof that even the writer or director never cared to show choi jeongyo. No character seems to show concern to him beyond polite words…

Because she doesn’t ask jeongyo first what makes him think that. Her lines were “are you doing this because of rumor?” not “can you tell me why you tortures him like this? make me understand.” She came with her own conclusion already made

When jeongyo said “he just want to confirm I’m dead”, she also doesn’t ask why he thinks that way, she judges him “I’m so disappointed you think that way”

Why does every burden of proof fall on jeongyo? ‘he needs to understand, he needs to believe his friend, he needs to search more’

Pio fucking admitted to killing him, and even then he still hesitates to oust him.
That’s because he loves and believes in his friend, even though the evidence says otherwise

Because jaein immediately judges that he did this out of rumor, instead of asking whether there’s other reason that make him believe that. How could you communicate when you aready judge the other person? She is only there to defend pio, not make them come to truce.

Jaein already said in the past that pio is looking for jeongyo. If she is just going to repeat that point, why would she even come? She needs to bring something, more concrete evidence, at least if she think jeongyo believes in rumor

No that’s beside the point. From jeongyo’s pov, the evidence is solid. There’s proof pio mom paid the kidnapper and then the kidnapper also named pio. But he still give pio benefit of doubt and confronted him, yet pio admitted it instead. The problem is in his perspective, that’s entirely possible. Jeongyo wouldn’t have been in the competition if it weren’t for pio request. Pio and his mom working together to off him in another country is entirely possible.

And add to that, pio mental situation hasn’t always been the best. He sometimes went violent when they were on Prague. Pio decision making is also very volatile. He wanted jeongyo to give his all and not pity him in their competition but still accepted jeongyo’s help with score when given the chance. So it’s hard to be sure what of pio do and wouldn’t do, feom jeongyo perspective.

Right? Every evidence is too solid to believe otherwise. What we need is other character to try understand that and help him get the truth

Wow even in the new preview, it’s jaein blaming jeongyo and judges him for hurting pio because ‘he believes the rumor’. She should at least asked why he thought that way, then jeongyo would have showed her the evidence and she would help him correct it or something. She doesn’t even bring any proof of pio looking for him, she wants jeongyo to believe it at face value?

The writer really wants everyone to turn their back on choi jeongyo huh?
Honestly I don’t see writer’s masterful writing here. Before this drama aired I really like shin yiwon’s writing, I posted comments expecting to see how she would translate her usual female friendship story into male. But no, the friendship written here is weaker than her two previous drama

The balance of narrative is really off.
If they’re trying to convey using music then we shouldn’t see pio side of story so clearly

I think jeongyo being grandpa’s child is very likely cause he kind of obsessed with making jeongyo his successor. Even if he is at the end of his life, since he didn’t know what his daughter did, it kinds of strange to suddenly leave everything to jeongyo. I mean, what for? unless he wronged jeongyo somehow

I just realized I badly want joengyo-pio to be uncle and nephew is because I let go of my expectations on pio on grounds he hasn’t grew up. And it’s very true, choi jeongyo 27 year old is entirely different from his 17 year old version, while pio is still the same boy from 9 years ago who hasn’t grown up. So if they turn out to be uncle-nephew, it makes the dynamic feels right

If this drama has spin off, I really wanna it to be how choi jeongyo who has been tortured so much by author gained self awareness and decided to rebel and make the plot go haywire

You’re very right, while I didn’t work in those field, I have had experience in living a very competitive education life where school choice and thesis topic is something you can’t tell even your friends because the amount of backstabbing that has happened in the past

I feel like the clues is already in jeongyo word “take music away from musician and it would be like living hell. I envy you, at least slump is something you can get over”

To jeongyo, nothing is more painful than physical realities of being unable to play. We can see how much hesitation he gave towards punishing pio even though he admitted to trying to kill him. He still wanted sliver of possibilities that pio didn’t do it even with evidence he already have.

If it was me, I wouldn’t care if he is innocent and it’s just his mom. I would rather destroy everything we had, cause my life is ruined anyway
