I actually really enjoyed the series for what it was. Those disappointed with some aspects of the show (Ozone, their mother and the explanation of parallel worlds, Jin and Wim), but that’s exactly how it went down in the novels, so it’s not like the show had much to work with to begin with.
So I say it’s more of a symptom of the lack of substance in the book rather than the show.
It’s just too silly and cringe for me. The overtop ‘funny’ approach didn’t work for me. There really wasn’t any plot that I can make out and just when you think you’re getting a bit of seriousness they throw in slapstick humor at you. Which isn’t the worst but when you have Nuea’s character acting serious next to Toh’s over the top acting, the juxtaposition doesn’t work. Either one had to be less serious or one had to be less over the top.
Also let’s not downplay the stalking and the hoarding 🤦🏽♀️.
Also also I like opposites attract trope butttt in this case I could not understand why Nuea’s character would like Toh in real life but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.
The side characters were under developed but the friendships were cute.
The side couple, while cute was also so underwhelming. They touch on a touchy subject of weight and the insecurity it can bring but don’t really do anything with this plot point. It was just a character trait to keep the side characters apart for most of the series.
I did like the third couple that came about in the last few episodes, they were cute and relatively ‘normal’ compared to the whole series. I would have happily watched them the whole time instead of the creepy stalker main character.
If it worked for other people power to you but I struggled to finish the 14 episodes!
I dropped this after episode 2, coming here to read reviews and it seems like I’m not missing anything still. If they just followed the novel more closely it probably would have been better… the novel itself is more character driven than plot driven but still better then the few episodes I watched.
are you able to spoil me regarding the Uea and the businessman who look like a boss or smth that was seen in the…
So he’s the boss’s cousin and the new manager of the design team (he comes later in the novel). He has a very obvious crush on Uea who tries to keep things professional but the manager keeps pushing him. They do not have anything romantic happen and in the novel the assault doesn’t happen like in the trailer but he does cross the line in visiting Uea’s mother and stepfather at their home. This all causes Uea to quit the company (he later comes back!) but yeah the new manager will not be a good person to join the team and will cause a rift between Uea and King!
I was lowkey more interested in the 3 side couples storyline and wish we saw more of them.. SMH. this episode…
In fairness to the show, that's how the novel also ended and I felt the same way. Like there was no resolution to the mother plot, is Ai actually not related to the man who raised him? The novel also just kind of ended...
Ok so I read the novel and it's pretty accurate translation BUT in the novel Ai never told Nhai that he had a sister so he was genuinely surprised when he saw Ai being hugged by another girl (that looked young to him too.) In the pervious ep. when Ai told Nhai about his sister I was like 'oh they're changing the big fight that is about to happen' but nope it just didn't make sense for Nhai to get so jealous when he knew about the sister... bad change on the show's part.
Also while the novel is cute (filled with a lot more NC scenes) nothing really happens just like in the show. It's just about Ai falling in love at first sight with Nhai and them getting together.
