Totally agree. He really stood out in an overall mediocre production. Such a disappointing drama all round.
Although, the editor changed the potentially good drama into a mediocre one - I'm still impressed by FSF's professionalism and acting skill. I never felt that he was 'acting' but rather he imbued the emperor's aura - which made him stand out. It could have been mediocre but he elevated it into a potentially good drama - if it wasn't for the bad edits. It was rushed and clearly a botch job. Understand they're getting a lot of flack from viewers but you can't blame them. This time I agree with the criticism. I'm afraid it decreased the re-watch value which is a real shame. I was never a fan of FSF until Minglan and of course, this one. Something changed him (he's not just a pretty face) and so glad it's for the better. As though he takes pride in his craft rather than just a job and I really, really respect him for it - kudos to FSF.
Poor FSF. It's actually a good drama and he manages to pull it through with his acting. PXR is alright too and I didn't mind watching the second leads either.
I don't know how he did it - probably a testament to his acting calibre because he manages to pull through certain parts which could have been cringeworthy but FSF manages to make it enjoyable to watch.
I didn't mind the bad CGI and age-gap romance (this was surprisingly done well but I think it had more to do with FSF acting), and there's also the silly plotline. Goodness there was no reason to some of the poor decisions. FSF had to literally 'save-the-day' almost every-time.
Unfortunately, they butchered this drama with bad editing. It was choppy and some things just made no sense (sigh). It's such a shame because it wasn't bad. In fact, the chemistry between the main leads was pretty good. I enjoyed watching their interactions but again due to the bad editing there was a lot of things that were missed. I think it's a wasted opportunity because it could have been a good drama.
Can't believe that I'm saying this but I think I fell in love with his eyebrows! I would never think it would happen but those eyebrows...man but it's pretty hot...
