What you heard from fans of the manhwa is correct. It is not an accurate adaption - there are things that been changed from the manhwa. The changes are all needed however because the changes allow for better storytelling for a drama. If it was kept exactly the same, it would not have been a good drama.
The execution of Si Eun's backstory in the drama is also as amazing and as greatly written as the manhwa, so you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend you watch.

I watched King of Pigs too but personally I liked Weak Hero a lot better.

Overrated. Long and sometimes boring. It will be really cool if it is a Movie
It was only 8 episodes and each episode was fast paced though. It felt like a movie to me.

Han Junhee, the director of DP, is the Creator (creative director) of Weak Hero Class 1. Weak Hero is his comeback work, so get your facts straight first.
I agree that D.P. was a masterpiece, but so was Weak Hero. I understand that not everyone can relate to the deep emotional struggles of our characters in Weak Hero though.

I've watched hundreds, maybe thousands of dramas, and I can for sure say this is THE best drama for me. The acting, scriptwriting, directing, camerawork, and editing are all are top tier. After watching the whole thing in one sitting, I watched it a couple of times over too. I recommend everyone to watch this drama WITHOUT SPOILERS to enjoy it properly. Really a lifetime drama. 10/10
