Can someone explain why Hauizhu had to marry Hongye as a concubine?
So Hongye could skip getting official permission from the Dongfang family head (who was now Jin Renfeng) and skip going through the long and involved formal process of the three letters and six marriage rites (三書六禮) required to marry Huaizhu as an official wife. Eloping with her and marrying her as a concubine was the fastest way to get her away from Jin Renfeng.
