Eternal Love of Dream (ELOD), is my favorite drama too. I really liked it as a viewer. Another drawback of Fox Spirit 1 is that the antagonist is too one-dimensional and weak. On the other hand, in ELOD we have Ji Heng and Miao Luo who throughout the drama influence DongFeng's story even though their presence is quite short. Apart from that, the antagonist in ELOD (Miao Luo) doesn't need a reason to be evil because she is actually a demon formed from poison that can destroy life so the main character (DongFeng) has to defeat her without the help of many people in a closed place (starlight ward). Fox Spirit 1 should provide a clear reason why Jin Renfeng and Shi Ji are worth fearing.
