I must admit reading your review give me some insight about the different point of view on the whole story. It makes sense, even if I don't agree with it many points, it could be a possible alternate explanation on the irrational behavior of some character that I initially blamed on the bad writing. When I think about it... I was disappointed because the drama felt like it was a cheat. What I mean is... Since the very first episode there was this wedding scene in dreams and at the end, and everything until this point suggested very strongly that the love story is a sewer one. These small, remarkable premonitions (which were mistakable taken as one to the good, healthy romance story), but in hindsight they were a marketing tool to lead viewers. I honestly felt disappointed, because I've thought the wedding will be the broking point for the better, yet it turned out like it did. Thank you for great insights :)
I didn't want to ruin my fun before watching the show, but it's one of these times when it would save my time and nerves. I dropped the drama at ep19, and couldn't see anything good happen after this. And from your review it seems like it get worse. The SML is just... stupid. Not blinded by hate, which wouldn't make him like this with his education probably. FL is... at first she was sweet, innocent, she looked like a complimentary character to the ML, as an opposite attract each other (it's romantic drama after all), but... The charm broke pretty fast, and it just reached it pit at ep19. Honestly, at this point I've regretted that ML and the childish princess weren't married by mistake and it would be so much better to watch, to be honest. And I will just tell myself that after the aphrodisiac fiasco.
Because nothing in this case was about remembering history. Just dirty and corrupt industry using a sh*tton of…
What an ugly case it turned out, then. Didn't know about this context, but now it makes much more sense. And makes the whole situation even more sad. In the same time showing Zhang Zhehan's great mental strength. Rooting for him even more now. Thanks for telling me!
I've just finished watching the Word of honor, and was curious about other projects of Zhang Zhehan. Instead I've read about that defamation case, yet see a wasted life, career and opportunity to invest in a new generation. Sad story, really. Hope it will resolved in favor of Zhang Zhehan. Also, glad to see he moves on with his life. Best wishes and good luck!
PS. Why didn't China used this case to show a message like: "We remember our history well, but we also learned from it and moved on, investing in brighter future". Now it looks like more like "We're still not over mental superiority of the past, still fearing it and trapped ourselves in it"?
